that would be him.
"master and commander" and "the far side of the world" are actually two separate books within the aubrey/maturin series. the movie was simply based on the first and tenth book of the 20 book series. and as far as i know, the unfinished 21st book should be released sometime soon.

i'm about half way through it so far, and already i love it.
it's amazing. i can tell it's going to be one of those books i read over and over.

it's a 20 book series. fucking incredible, if you're into the 1800's'ish and oldschool nautical stories.

This book was hard, for me, to get through. Sad, so sad. Definitely have to be in a certain frame of mind to go through it. That and ly slow start, aside from the beginning, but an absolutely heart touching ending.

It was really good but a little dry considering the amount of explaining that had to be done regarding his philosophical outlook. I know it's hard to work a philosophy into a story without going into detail explaining it somehow and still have it come across to everyone the way you wanted it to... but I don't think his ideas were so indepth that he needed to keep up with the explanative narrative throughout the entire novel.

I still haven't even read Brave New World though... guess I'll have to one of these days.

my sister recommended it to me. she absolutely loved it. we were really stoned and she was telling me about it.
