im thinking the thai government knew the trsunami was comming, along with the other countries that got hit. its just calling the siren would effect the economy and other factors greatly. they did not want to risk this huge downfall if they were to be wrong. because they read graphs a lot and see minor earthquakes very frequently, but they only realize how huge this is when it is really too late. of course they later regret that they didnt operate the evacuation plan. and suffer with many lives.
being raised in a third world country i see why they would do what they did, pretend like nothing is happening and just hope everything will be okay. country looks like shit and people are living like shit, and when they try so hard to get back on the feet and get richer, calling the siren can really kick them when they are down. im saying i understand why they remained silent, of course i wouldnt choose too |

only 50,000 americans died in the vietnam war... we have never seen anything like this in our lifetimes or our parents. this many people have not died all at once, before...
