i don't think so yet. i know they want to put out their first issue by like september. i think it's more social than anything. but really i can't figure out if it's going to be a mushy-we-love-everyone type thing.

depends which theory of sociology you're dealing with. just like psychology has cognitive and behavioural psychology, sociology has different departments and trains of thought as well.

but no, most sociology doesn't claim that the government is the only means to fix problems. lots of sociology is dedicated to studying how the government fucks up a lot and what we can do to fix it.

my dad knows lots of sociology majors that have gone onto be public relations for companies and such. he knows lots of people that have been hired to work in companies that want to boost their image in society or find out how they can be more socially conscious or solve an internal problem with ethnicity or gender problems.

maybe two years, realistically three years (especially if i get into the creative writing program i want). i'm just going into third year.

well, i haven't really done anything too specialized yet. i've taken a class in canadian sociology which was just an overview of sociological issues in a canadian context and then i took an ethnic relations class which dealth with obviously race and ethnic issues (again mostly in canada).

i'm looking forward to taking the sexuality class and the developing world class.
