a bilge pump is something to draw water away from the insides/bilge of the ship.
with something that size water DOES collect, and you'd be surprised how fast.

Im sure that the bilge pumps have a back up power system just in case besides if it really came down to it there is always manual bilge pumps also the pumps arn't running all the time. I've been on boats all my life you have very little to worry about with a power outage if your just sittin there or not in rough seas.

i watched a news report with Buck Black of the BC ferries.... he said the ferry lost all power as it was making its final approch to the dock.

FREE BREAKFAST/LUNCH.
especially if it was the one with the buffet.

on the news it said they are getting free coffee and tea and can still buy meals. haha. they are stuck on there until high tide at least, at around 3 pm. sucks to be them.

My mom was supposed to take an early ferry from there this morning but then had to go to tswassen and on the way there apparently there was a HUGE accident... needless to say her vacation didnt go as scheduled. So glad she wasnt on that one!
