I've heard much about the parties a few years back and I wish I had gotten into the scene before that even though I'm still new to it I wish to get into it. Oh and Laramy in metropolis sells phat pants, not sure for how much though.

i know why im there, and i enjoy every min of it. i like a outward look, and any chance to incorperate bold new looks into my style. im a hippy at heart, just born to late... for me PLUR isnt just a drug induced hollow greeting. i see alot in that phrase. to me it has many meenings, and has been pondered and eventualy adopted into my own philosophy. i will always be PLUR to some exstent. i believe it to be a concept on par with religious baised influences and heavely intergrated into my conscience.
so i try to spread a little plur, and i wave a glow stick around sometimes, i have to alow myself to express myself. i can still appreciate the other ways some people express themselves be it goth, prep, junglist, camo, or anything along those lines or more excessive! would you really want everyone else at the rave to wear camo like 'you' and all share simular rave behavoirs...?? i couldnt handle that.

i think Kandi kids are a main pillar of the rave culture. the commonly related accspetance / friendlyness was a main contributor to its explosion. the colours and lights alow ravers to play with toys / entertain spectators / trip out / assit dancers / and for those that think they are rediculous you should just have a good laugh, then continue whatever you are at the rave for in the first place.

i hate that people are scared to be kandi kids now cause of the harrasment and recent switch in popularity.... dont let Junglist turn you off of Kandi or PLUR. :)

there just needs to be more raves in general. then when there's more selection of parties to go to, then everybody can stop complaining cause there will be something for everyone. and yes, small parties are nice, but it's the massives that recruit the new ravers. more massives=more new ravers. more ravers=more rave kulture or whatever..and that=better raves!

I never got to attend a plaza party, but I know a lot who did, and I've seen every plaza party video from www.djvibe.com and yeah, the vibe was just so much better, and I could tell that just from watchin some video clips.

Maybe because the lineups were a lot different. Nowadays there seems to be a lot more trance then breaks and dnb headliners at parties, maybe it was the venue? who knows.

Maybe it was just the ecstacy. :shrugs:

I think that people are also too governed by what is "cool" (or percieved that way)... I believe that many people claim "oh I hate raves" "ravers suck" "candy kids suck" "trance sucks" because well that is cool and in... To say opposite makes you "lame".

In all honesty, if raves suck and so on, why are people going? More importantly if you are on this board claiming so why are you on this board? I think that trance is about the same as the back street boys or whatever pop group is massive right now... everyone seems to hate them but they are some how very popular. Perhaps there are many, many closet fans that are just too afraid to say that to do like some trance, even if it is in a small quantity. (or when no one is around to say you're lame ;) )

I think that from reading some of the previous posts in this thread I am in agreeance that part of the issue is that, well the older ravers are just that... getting older.

I just looked at some videos on DJvibe.com and I noticed a few things about the older parties (2004 and older):

- Plaza of Nations seemed to be the 'hot spot' to hang out at night and party it up (I've never been to a Plaza party :()
- There was a much better 'vibe' and people actually danced and enjoyed more of the music than the drugs
- People showed off their dancing skills (where are all the bboys and bgirls at raves these days?)
- Girls kissing other girls in public (that's hot)
- People liked to just move and go nuts to breaks, whereas now everyone just sits there and chills out to it
