It makes us all look like dumbasses who are looking up to DJs as their idols.

It's more respectful to the DJ if you dance instead of glare at him/her like an idiot.
just because im watching the dj doesnt mean i worship him, im just interested.

i mean if someone is hogging the space all night, thats annoying, but its perfectly acceptable to watch for any amount of time under 15 mins

the rave scene is fine, its just people get jaded and bitter and wreck it for everyone else.
too much a-t-t-i-t-u-d-e, people need to check that shit at the door.
and we are very very very spoiled, so we expect to much.
that is all.

I'm willing to bet the rave scene hasn't changed really that much in the last 50 years.

Well yeah, you're right. I thought about that as well, but I just didn't mention it like you did. A few mins is OK cause it's normal for people to be curious and interested in what the DJ is doing, but standing the WHOLE night by the booth is just lame.

Just depends on the person to choose which one they will follow. Anyone over the age of 18 is capable of making mistakes just as someone who is underage.
Very true. I didnt mean a very high restriction, even 16 would be fine. I just think that somebody's early teen years are some of the most influential. I met a couple girls at kiss that were 14 and I just thought if you've got years to party why start so young? Alot changes between 14 and 16 and going to raves and being exposed to drugs and all that jazz can be the thing that decides how a teen turns out. Im not saying all kids that go to raves will discover and get addicted to drugs, I'm just saying the possibility is very real. I was 15 at my first rave and I had a great time, but I still feel that now, a year later, I would of handled the situation abit better. Despite how mature somebody thinks they are, they've still got alot to learn.

Excellent post, I agree with you 100 percent.
And I was 19 when I went to my first rave, and im glad I didn't get exposed to the scene at such an early age.

I find a good portion of the teens who attend raves dont even go for the music, and really thats what it is all about. They go to do drugs and party, half the time they can't even tell you what genre they are listening to or who is even spinning and thats what I find sad.

RAVING IS NOT ABOUT THE MUSIC, for the love of god.

If it were about the music, you'd get the same thing by sitting at home listening to the Essential Mix.

There's a lot more to raves than just the music. It's the entire party. The music, the place, the people, the drugs, the all-encompassing experience.

How is raving about the drugs?

Raving is about going to listen to some tunes in a nice atmosphere while socializing with your friends, or to meet some new ones.

Bottom line, to have a good time.

Just because a vast majority feel its easier and more fun to be on drugs while dancing and doing so, doesnt mean RAVES are all about them.

raving is about fun...

but alot of people equate drugs with fun

so ergo raves = fun = drugs.

but then barbeques can be = drugs = fun.

raves arent anything special in the drug world.. just more popular. it all comes down to the person and group.. not the venue

Agreed raving isn't just the music and yes the drugs do play a part in the experiance just like drinkin beer at a country concert or a nice bottle of wine and some cheese at the opera.

Yes they do play a part and it can be fun attending a rave while on them, but its not what its totally about.

What I should have said is its MAINLY about the music.

Come off it.

Where the hell did I say raves were all about drugs.

Wasn't the point of my rant that it's about the whole experience?

And if you're telling me that drugs aren't a notably present facet of that experience, you're really mistaken.
