PNE or Chilliwack Heritage Hall
For a massive party The PNE is the place to be, there's just nowhere else legally allowed to throw a party that has a large capacity like that.
However I've noticed when I talk about the PNE I hear a lot of comments on how it's getting played out and that tickets are really expensive there. I'm pretty sure Doomsnight will sell out there, but what about other parties on different dates? I was just playing around with numbers and budgets and stuff just for fun and thought about The Chiliwack Heritage Hall. I found that because of its HUGE capacity it's possible to have huge line ups and spectacular production there, and charge a lot less per ticket. The problem is that it is all the way in Chiliwack, and it can get cold inside the venue. With the lack of choices in venues nowdays and with the party scene getting stale, I'm wondering if people would think of giving The Chilliwack Heritage Hall a 2nd chance, or is it best to play it safer and stick to the PNE. What are your thoughts? |

Please state why you would choose either PNE, Heritage Hall or neither
If its neither where else would you rather see a massive party? Remember this is a post about where to throw a massive party so stating neither because you like small hall parties is irrelivant. I like those parties better to, but its not what the post is about. |

Well....
All I have to say is that I have a real sick feeling that with the supposive "renovations" there will probably be a new policy in place based on what events can take place there especially with the up and coming olympics... They may just not allow massives to take place in there anymore and unfortunantly promoters will need to find other locations that are out there... As per the chilliwack heritage center... who knows how long that will last if promoters beging to use it..... There's no sense to attempt to even try the tradex center in abby simply because the city will not allow it at all. Dunno if there are any other area's in langley or surrey or anything like that.... but ya... |

Dave..
i think Chilliwack would be an AWESOME.. place to go party.. 1 - it is not played out.. 2 - it's HUGE 3 - it's in the middle of nowhere.. so no complaints.. you could easily fix the cold problem by having barriers to the outside or some other solutions.... and bringing WARM cloths.... that would mean no booty shorts (yay) in the summer this place would be killer.. or even in the spring time... times when it isn't cold... ya kno? if its for cold periods make sure u take precautions to make it less cold.. it's a hanger.. it shouldn't be that hard.. i mean i've gone to cadets in a hanger in the winter... in Toronto.... it can be done.. i liek chilliwack heritage hall. |

Spooky 8 inside temp wise was good :-). Holy fuck outside was cold though, so id say Chilliwack would be more suitable in the spring. Nobody wants to drive far if the weather is shitty in the winter time too. I like the PNE now, didnt really use to before, location is good, and the sound lately has been awesome. But at least try Chilliwack again,if it goes well, great, if not , least tried. Spooky 8 didnt even use the whole venue if iam correct, so be cool to see how it would be using the other half too.

Chilliwack Heritage Park is a great venue. And it can be heated....but there were a lot of factors that night made it seem colder than it was. I never once found it cold inside the arena.
BigBankHank - you are correct, we didn't use the whole venue, cause if we did, the place would seem empty, and you guys would have something further to bitch about. No matter how many people we got in there. And for those of you in this thread that seem to think that you "cannot" use a venue because some city won't allow it. You shouldn't be posting. Certain venues do allow it, but the hoops that a promoter has to jump through and the cost to them isn't worth their time and money at the end of the day. The scene does not allow it. Call me bitter, but I find it funny that so many are jumping on the Chilliwack band wagon now that you are left with no other choice. Swing Kids and Twisted caught a lot of criticism for going there. But don't get me wrong, I think it is great that most of you are finally seeing the value in that great venue. Dave give me a call - we should talk! |

Dave I know you know this but remember...
FnK can't fill the Heritage Hall on its own. Despite what people post or click on here, they are completely unpreditable. Having said that, post this same type of poll on multiple sites and see what you come up with. |

Avana...Definatly will be keeping in touch!
Kraig...haha yup I know. I mean the majority of fnkers picked Riverside over Maritime and we saw how well that worked out. Pennywise, whats so crappy about the inside? It's just a huge empty room, or two, with side rooms. I'm guessing you've never been to a Seattle party or any other city? I think Vancouver has been spoiled with Plaza of Nations for so long and doesn't understand that huge parties are usually in old dirty warehouses. I feel Vancouver has lost its sense of adventure =( |
