but the mistakes other large production companies make are not just forgotten due to magic. they've gained trust over the years. so one or two fuck ups don't just take the whole thing away. |

i think 70's ok! i mean people are paying 50+ just to go clubbing and drinking with local Dj's!! 70 for an 10 hour show with world class dj's are worth it! Vancouver is way too spoiled!!! you wanna pay 40 bucks for a new yrs party then your gonna see dj's like hurting fucks akeel and detna8r headlining the main room!! that would be a hurting show!!! lol

And the tickets are only $40USD You shoulden't be getting into "the costs of DJ's and the venue" because that's rediculous. Solid is raising the prices because they know stupid people will buy them from what happened with Spooky. And if Spooky happened to the fullest potential it was supposed to, then Solid wouldent of made as much as they did, and the prices for NYE would be less, plain and simple. |

^^ Tones6 does bring up a good point actually, going out on new year's eve is not cheap. Even clubs charge A LOT of money for their new years parties (then you take into account the cost of drinking, etc.) so it is comparable.
The point isn't that it's expensive, I think what kinda baffles me is that I was under the impression that presales were something that's always been very encouraged, although promoters can charge a lot day of/at the door, they'd rather have the majority of party goers purchasing presales as early as possible. I could see tickets starting out at 40-50 dollars, but 70 just doesn't make sense. Despite that all though, I was already sold on going when I found out z trip was playing :) so I'm like 70% there at this point. |

dont tell me not to get into venue costs think about it....lets say for shits and giggles the colliseum costs 7500 on any regulare night. that 15000 for a nye show. capacity has also been lowered for this event since there is a giants game on the 1st and the boards have to be kept in place. dont start talking to me about this shit, cuz all your doing is assuming. |

everyone on this board keeps fronting like they know all about the shit politics about the ravey rave scene. i dont know, i guess its just a stage in the raver progression. best way to get actual facts about pricing for a party is to throw one yourself and then you'll see all the hidden fees which come with throwing a party. its too bad that people see solid in it just for the money (who knows?) but to continually rant on them and compare them against other companies, then make another post about how the scene in vancouver is totally dead is stupid. the scene is what you make of it and (although its been said millions of times already) if you dont want to go then no one is forcing you. |

and who the fuck would pay for a car? BUS it, it's not long, it's way cheaper, and way less hassle. that means you're total cost for the part is $45, plus you get booze, games, and a WAY better vibe!!! Last edited by dabbler; Nov 21, 04 at 09:10 AM. |
