Rochester, Omega is probably more imbedded in Vancouver's hip hop scene than some white kid living in his mom's attic in richmond.

You really need to learn when to pick your battles.

I think you just got punked son.

lol What Vancouver hip hop scene? Our scene is fukking wack. lol @ someone "embedding" themselves in that garbage. The only Canadian hip hop artists I listen to are from Alberta and Ontario.

Touch & Nato from Edmonton, D.F.E. from Calgary >>>>>>>>>>>> Vancouver's whole scene and all it's artists

You'd be surprised what you found if you left richmond.

I thought you were gonna post some evidence to back up your statement of how the underground made no strides. Maybe your reviews on albums. But you went on some lame tangent talking about stuff thats not even related. Did you even listen to any hip hop albums this year? Mainstream of Underground. Cuz I'm very interested to know. Just admit you fucked up and you don't know what you're talking about and keep it moving.
the fact that you put 8 diagrams as a nice release this year is crap. rza totally fucked that joint over.

as for reviews.... i'm not going to sit here and write reviews on every album ive listened to this year. but since you requested some evidence on what mainstream hiphop did, i'll back it up and i only need one reference:

jay z - american gangster.

probably one of the worst commercial hiphop flops in years. def jam lost millions, almost everyone involved in the project lost their job, hell even an independent label under def jam got cut.

but still, this album was ground breaking on levels you'll never understand.

did i love this album? hell no, but it did bring some heat, and actually progressed hiphop. jay-z gave a big "fuck it" to everyone and did what he wanted to do......

aside from the fact that diddy was the exec. on the album, jay pretty much had everything the way HE wanted. i cant stress how large this is. jay finally got back to his roots, and made an album with passion, an album he actually cared about.

this album was a flop, but will be remembered for not only reviving the concept album, but possibly hiphop.

we'll wait and see how well the cool does.

Good one. Keep bringing up Richmond. How about naming all these dope MC's from Vancouver. Jaykin? Heatwave? lol. Do they even have albums? I don't want to listen to some bum ass mixtape.

I've "dug" deep into the Vancouver hip hop scene. I'd like nothing more than to rep Vancity artists and be proud of my hometown hip hop scene. But our sh1t just can't compare to stuff that's coming out of Ontario and Alberta. Why listen to inferior music?

Question for you guys, have you "dug" for hip hop in any other Canadian cities. I doubt it. Put any of these Vancouver mc's up against dudes like Touch and Nato and they'll get murked.

again with the hating. sit on the sidelines and let things get worse, rather than try to make a difference.

lol from the one repping the underground, you'd think that having an album wouldn't be a factor.

and again, dont get rap and hiphop twisted. hiphop just aint mc'ing.

Jesus christ shut up. I'm done with you. You comment on underground hip hop not being good this year yet you haven't listened to any underground albums. And then you give me some review on American Gangster that sounds like it was copied from XXL. Honestly what are you babbling about. Just stop.

^ raggeton and hip-hop

album is a little all over the place with his puerto-rican east coast hip-hop vibe. needless to say the beats are pretty raw.

also add:
JDiggz - Memories of a playboy
Cadence Weapon - Breakin Kayfaybe

The only Canadian hip-hop that stood out this year.

Sure you know about, however don't you know that shit is wack?

If you're looking for some VanCity underground with some real vibes check out Jay Kin. Do yourself that favor.

Nah not from Surrey. And that ultra backpack/skateboard hip hop is not for me. I like 1 Ink Ops track that's about it.

Vancouver mcs I like tend to be the female variety:

Kia Kadiri, Ndidi Kascade, Lady Precise...

Always felt that Emotionz had major skillz as well as Ty C and Subliminal JC

So long as it's not the suburban, wannabe gangsta hiphop...

why ask me for evidence as to what mainstream hiphop has done then? dont start something if you aint gonna finish it. you haven'd even provided any of your reasons as to why underground was "so good" this year.

as for some underground shit i wasn't impressed with;

consequence - don't quit your day job - album was disappointing, especially from the fire of his mixtapes. a decent single here and there, but nothing worth remembering, maybe grammy family

necro - death rap - i'd go so far as to say that this was his worst album to date. he seriously tried to push underground metal way to hard. keeping it real had hooks like some indie rock band.......

saigon - the moral of the story - bearing in mind, this is probably something you consider commercial...... it was weak either way. and i'm a huge sai fan. with the exception of c'mon baby, shit was wack. may have to do with the fact that just blaze is all over that

little brother - good clothes - i dont even need to say anything other than the fact that they need to get 9th back.

btw - jay aint so local anymore, think he's still in japan?

It took you an hour to come up with that?

And wow @ the albums (and songs. You didn't like 1 Little Brother track?) you listed. So you listened to those and came to the conclusion underground hip hop of '07 was bad. wtf did you expect, those albums were trash. None of those are even in my top 30. Step your game up and listen to some good stuff. Try the 5 I listed for starters.
