Love how the thread starter posted this in Hip Hop, posted hip hop releases probably expecting others to follow suit, and lo and behold, hardly a hip hop entry after.

Thought the fact that we're in the HIP HOP section would have been enough specification.

And '07 was a great year for hip hop. So many gems. You'll have to turn off MuchMusic to find them though

07 was a disappointment, with strides forward only made by the mainstream rather than the underground. mixtapes were shit this year, maybe *5 stand out.

however, im not going to get into some hiphop debate with you, since it seems like that's all you ever want to do.

Did you not just see the albums I listed???? All Underground except for Talib who is semi-mainstream. And I can name 20 more. '07 was extremely dope for underground hip hop. It absolutely sh1tted on the mainstream. lol Wooow you're a clown. You have no idea what you're talking about dude. Stick to radiohead or whatever.

He appeals to a lot of underground heads. His backpackerish/conscious style doesn't make me consider him full blown mainstream.

whatever, fuck my previous "i wont get into this", because you obviously need an education.

so....since YOU listed those albums, it must mean that they did wonders for the underground scene, right?

aside from the fact that i didnt list radiohead on my top 5 (i don't even listen to them), it shouldn't matter what type of music i listen to to determine my opinion on the topic at hand.

you, just like many, believe that in order to "represent" you have to rep the underground hard and that any form of mainstream hiphop should automatically be outkast (get it?)....

it's this type of close minded thinking that has put hiphop where it's at...... in a state of disappointment.

the underground heads seriously need to get rid of the chip on their shoulder, and support hiphop as a whole, rather than their niche.

the same thing goes for the mainstream artists that are monopolizing the industry and focusing more on making a buck off a ringtone rather than progressing the scene.

there honestly needs to be more mainstream artists like kanye west, who develop underground artists into "semi mainstream" artists as you put it. a prime example of this is lupe.

so if you ever get your head out of your ass and don't end up some broke ass has been that's too concerned with hating.....you're welcome.

wtf are you talking about dude? lol @ writing essay responses. I listen to whatever is good hip hop. There were some nice mainstream releases this year too. 8 Diagrams, Big Doe Rehab, American Gangster. I thought you were gonna post some evidence to back up your statement of how the underground made no strides. Maybe your reviews on albums. But you went on some lame tangent talking about stuff thats not even related. Did you even listen to any hip hop albums this year? Mainstream of Underground. Cuz I'm very interested to know. Just admit you fucked up and you don't know what you're talking about and keep it moving.
