I really don't get the hype around Lil' Wayne. Although he's not a 50 Cent dink thug, he's a dime a dozen in terms of talent and vision. Just give me the '90s Cypress Hill albums he's ripping off and leave me be.

Gotta say that "Mr. Carter" is a great track. That is, except for his bit about him wanting to be thought of in the same class as the greats.

album is hot, picked up the leak a few days ago so i could preview it. gonna be one i actually pay money for, first in a while.

say what you want, but even if you're not a fan of weezy the dude lives/breathes/eats/shits hip hop. the amount of work he has put out is incredible, his wordplay isn't diluted by his volume of releases, and he's just an interesting cat in terms of the projects he works on and the shit he does.

I get that lil' wayne generates a ton of hype, but I would say the fact that wu released its first album in what? 8 or 9 years to be a pretty fing big deal.

Pardon my ignorance, but how long has lil wayne been successful commercially? (I'm genuinely curious)

He was a member of the Hot Boys on Cash Money that went multiple platinum
His major leap came around the time of his first Carter album, in which he got a lot more in depth/crazy with his flow and wordplay, almost on a NORE level.

He is also on every second single or remix put out in the last 2 years.

Lil Wayne has been around for about 10 years or so.

I just spit the facts. Wether or not Lil wayne is good or not really doesnt have anything to do with his album being anticipated. I couldn't imagine The WU having much marketing power behind their release which would have a substantial impact on how its received. Weezy's album has had a lot of push from mixtapes to radioplays. The Carter 3 has been delayed for a long time which adds to the excitement.
