ha ha. that's kind of why i liked it.
i don't go raving at all anymore, and never really did. I have a different view of the scene than i did when I was 14, but it still isn't a bitter/jaded one. dj's play other peoples music. or their own if they've got some brains about them. people dance. alls said and done. good times. OK, NOW THATS BULLSHIT. IT DEFINATELY IS NOT NO FUCKIN TRIBECA.THAT SPOT SUCKS, ITS NOT EVEN AROUND ANY MORE. IT WAS NOT EVEN A CLUB.
I think the sound at cyber is really good but we just need a sound guy that knows the whole system. Its like they don't get that dnb doesn't sound the same as other music. BUT IT STILL HAS ONE OF THE BETTER SOUND SYSTEMS. IF YOU ASK THE OWNER, HE WOULD SAY THAT IT'S THE BEST IN THE WORLD. HELL, HE THINKS IT'S THE BEST CLUB IN THE WHOLE WORLD. Cyber is realy fuckin ill. Hope everyone gets out there to see one of the nights BPM THURSDAYS FUNKTION FRIDAYS TWISTED SATURDAYS AS FAR AS THE SOUND IN THE PLAZA GOES, I THINK IT IS SO FUCKING ILL. YOU GET UP AROUND THE STAGE AREA AND YOU REALLY CAN FEEL IT IN YOUR BODY, ALMOST PUTS ME TO SLEEP, IT'S SO NICE. PLUS, IT'S ON GRANVILLE so you get all the peeps just walking by so the spot gets more full and the show goes off way more and everyone is happy. I could go on forever but I'll stop now. |

Another reason I can't bring myself to have much respect for the place.

I have had some fun times at Cyber it's just too bad it never really gets too packed. Atleast from what i've seen. |

if ya never have seen cyber packed then get on down there this friday. We got our funktion fridays grand opening with HIVE. Should be one damn good show. lots of presales have been going. The last time HIVE came in to town we had a packet show. this one should be just as good, if not better.

word word. only been there once but when I was it was pretty bumpin. (noisia, need I say more?) juuuuust enough space on the dance floor for people to bust out proper. and that's what you need right? |
|

ya it's nice the way it is laid out. you can get drinks and chill and still have a great view of the acts without having to be on the big dance floor. also, there's a lot going on so your eyes and ears are happy. I've been trying to not have to turn on the laser until they force me to. the visual guy has a lot to do with the way the spot ends up looking for the evening . Of course there are so many screens so whatever you are projecting really has an impact on the vibe and atmosphere that is created. we have been putting a lot of pics and video images so it can have a little more of a jungle feel to it. it will take just a little more time to get what we are looking for. and as for the mLc or riverside vibe, neither of those spots got a room that looks and sounds like cyber.

after dropping by for an hour last friday, i won't set foot in that club until they fix the sound. ears were ringing for a day and it wasn't loud enough to be doing that. felt like the highs were way too bright but i just don't know enough about sound to say.

That being said, it has potential, but they really need a real sound tech to tweak that thing. |

they have a decent rig at cyber, more than loud enough for the size of the room, but the way it's set up....
honestly, i have to say that i really haven't been happy with the sound there. it's loud, the bass is good, crisp and punchy, but the high end? my god it's terrible in there about 75% of the time i've been. granted i'm usually only there for a couple of hours or so when the headliner is on, but still... really need to get someone who knows what they're doing in to eq and set it all up properly, then you need to get some good gates and limiters on the rig so that when the sound gets pushed on the mixer the system has a set cut-off point on how high it will go, especially to keep the high end out of "ear-piercingly painful" territory. a rule of thumb, if your ears are really ringing at the end of the night, that's NOT a sign of a good sound system, that's a sign of too much high end. it's also a sign of the sensitive little hairs in your ear canal that pick up sound dying off, so remember that too. but the biggest thing is you need to get someone at the show with the balls to go up and tell the djs to turn it the fuck down if they're in the red. don't be intimidated, i must have told ed rush and optical 4-5 times to cut back on the highs on the eq on the mixer when i thought it was getting too piercing. if you're working with professionals they should be glad of the input, they can't hear what's going on from behind the decks, they NEED someone on the floor keeping track of the sound for them. and putting some sort of tasteful looking sound baffles on the back wall and at strategic points around the room would help to, the acoustics there aren't the greatest. my two cents, but i'm a sound system snob (and spoiled when i think about it, as i've gone from doing the majority of my shows at the lotus to doing the majority of my shows at plaza, two clubs that had incredibly well put together sound systems filling up rooms that were built for it, or vice versa). |

can't even TOUCH gorg, though not many clubs in the city can. now if it wasn't full of fake tits, fake hair, fake nails, fake lips, fake tans and shirtless gel-monkeys and i could buy a beer i'd be there all the time. |

that's a myth, most of them just want it to sound good, if you tell them it's distorting they'll turn it down, and for the most psrt they'll listen to you, UNLESS THEY'RE KENNY KEN!
