Solid seems to get pretty major crowds (probably the largest of the two) out to every one of their events, so they're obviously doing something right. Whatever you want to say about price or venue, they're successful, and if you go in for the type of DJs they bring, you are unlikely to be disappointed. As for Twisted, they've got a great history and a loyal group of fans. I'm NEVER disappointed in a Twisted show lineup, and have had a great time at every Twisted event I've ended up at. I tend to bump into the Twisted promoters a lot more often than I see the Solid ones, and they've always been entertaining and friendly. And now, it looks like they're trying to do something new and interesting. It's hard work, and Kudos is due there. So yeah, the fighting and the digs are pretty retarded. Rave on. |

you do got a point tho kraig - seeing as I missed out on twisted last year. I am quite quite intent on hittin it this year, whenever it happens. and yeah, finding a place that the owner actually will allow you to have a 'rave' not to mention that the city will actually approve - is next to slim nowadays, Im runnin into the same problem here in this tiny town. well, all is well that ends well - and in this case, all will be well when we party at twisted 2k5:D |

Look how easy it was for Jer on the island to obtain a legal liquor license and have a 19+ drinking area @ Old School in Nanaimo!!!! -- And that was in the same venue where there were underaged people which would NEVER be allowed here... in any city! |

Azim and I have this arguement often... He has obviously DJ's for 3000+ peeps before which yeah is theory is kewl, but like you said I would MUCH rather play for a 19+-type crowd in a club with like 3-500 peeps going off with wicked vibe/energy. Krafty was a good example of something close to that energy. These people actually appreciate the music and are there to have a good time and not there specifically to do drugs. |

Sure Twisted as been sort've 'dorment' in the last couple months, but I daresay there done by any mean, I honestly hate partying in the same venue too many times, and what the Twisted team is doing is not only being creative, but being new, which I think every company needs in order to keep their customers, or in this case fans/partiers. So, Solid is throwing quality shows now, as they will continue too in the future, and Twisted has thrown quailty shows in the past, as they will in the future as well. Stop the bickering, and as he said, Rave On! |

Strange, it almost seems like the rave world is divided in 2: The Plaza Mainstage Style, and the BC Room one.
I love the feel of a good massive, but I have to say that my best memories are always in the 150-350 person range. (Case in point: the BC Room at Grande Finale) |

Dorment?!? WTF. A company is dorment because it doesn't throw an all night rave? -- We have thrown a TON of club nights and brought some crazy, crazy world class talent to the city in those club venues. -- A lot of those club nights have drawn OVER 1000 peeps in each of them and have sold out.
We are far from dorement... perhaps shifting business focus is the better word and thus contributing to the scene in a different way. I mean shit... wait till you see what we have planned coming up!!! |

Pacific Coliseum is much bigger than the Plaza of Nations - I actually believe that Solid Corporation took the scene to another level in Vancouver. Look at the talent/production that is brought into the Pacific Coliseum. Let us explain to you to WHY we have 4 areas. It's simple. 1. It's a massive 2. To assemble as much talent as possible together (local/internationally) 3. To seperate the music as best as possible - better music flow (House wouldn't mix well with DnB/Jungle) - Does Jungle mix with Trance in one room? Did Swamp mix well with the other Trance headliners in the main room on nye? 4. We want to give an opportunity to locals who don't get booked often. (How many locals would love to just get an opportunity to play infront of ppl) - the 4th is straight up talent showcasing as many out of town promoters do come by our events. 5. It's the Pacific Coliseum -- so much space - why not use it? 6. There's a FIRE regulation on the amount of ppl allowed in each area of music hence 4 areas is the best to avoid the problem. (especially in the 2nd area) 7. Having 4 rooms makes it more enjoyable to walk around and adventure around. (MUSIC EVERYWHERE) 8. It's more about marketing -- as we book more locals = spread of word and the Pacific Coliseum needs it. 9. You can PM and we can discuss more. Okay. Let's stick with the topic of Twisted 2005 and do less comparing between companies. Last edited by -STAN-; Feb 15, 05 at 05:13 PM. |
