The reality is though... Legal and city approved venues.
Sure we could do yet another massive at the Colesium, but let's be honest, Solid has raped that venue a ton and from what we've seen, will continue to do so in May probably in the Summer as well. To further, you can only do so much with that venue -- technically, it's a two room venue as it has only two rooms. The third stage (usually the House room) that is always added, is a joke and frankly it's embarassing to walk in any sort of House headliner into and tell them that is where they are playing. Any attempt to add a fourth stage (or as I like to call it, the smoking stage) is a flat out joke unless it is solely there to provide entertainment for the smokers. We are putting some thought into this and are doing the best we can with the limitations the city has placed upon us. As I said, I'll keep you posted. Cheers. |

^Amen. It would be great to find a new legal venue, but obviously damn difficult.
Have you ever looked into setting up a party in the gates at BC Place? Freaknight in Seattle had a great setup, with the stagest at different points along the huge long stone corridors, nice and cool, with a shitload of capacity. Might be an idea, but as always, you're dealing with the owners, the city, and the cops. I'm sure that all our prayers are with you in finding a new rockin' venue ;) |

and i suppose canada place wouldn't want anything to do with raves either.
i still think you should try to throw a rave at Tinseltown...that mall is fucking awesome and it's not used for anything but a shitty foodcourt and some movie theatres. i wonder if you could get a permit for that place and then you could have different rooms in the different empty stores. |

I agree that Tinseltown is pretty fricken kewl BUT think about it, there is WAY to much shit to break there. Glass everything. You'd be suprised at the amount of bone headed idiots that attend shows now that take it upon themselves to vandalize, steal shit among other things. |

^very true. what about something at UBC? i know we have a big gym (War Memorial Gym) and a couple ballrooms in the student union building that would work pretty well. there is even an open courtyard in the one upstairs that would be a great smoking area (in fact that's what they use it for when they use the SUB for parties)
i'm just not sure how obtaining an all night license would work there, but it would be worth checking out in my opinion. |

UBC has tons of venues... Keep in mind though that with UBC comes residencies in that area and with residencies come noise by-laws. -- The city is anal about that shit as obviously loud music played passed certain times (especially till 8AM in the morning) pisses people off.

It's like how we could have said about Twisted back in the past -- "Sure we could do yet another massive at the Plaza of Nations, let's be honest, Twisted has raped that venue a ton and from what we've seen, will continue to do so in May probably in the Summer as well." Hm.. I wonder how you would reply to that if we had posted that back in the days? Its also interesting how Spooky (what is it? 6) at the Pacific Coliseum. if i recall had 3 or 4 stages too? hmm... I guess it was a joke too. I'm sure Twisted would love to do a massive there too any GIVEN day if it was a good date. Let's keep this clean Kraig -- I'm sure you don't want me to discuss about Twisted and compare productions. That is all for now. |

How would I reply to you if you said the same thing about us and the Plaza? I would say fucking rights we did because the venue ruled, it was the best period. That's why we did throw the most shows there out of any promotions company. As for Spooky 6 - yes we threw it at that venue and yes we had 3 rooms. But you're still missing the point. Even at our show, as packed as it was with 5600 people there and as much fun that was had, the venue still is a 2 room venue. If ANY promotions company throws a show there, they are still going to be faced with what the venue is and the way it's been built. So again Stan, see the bigger point. The venue itself isn't all that good to throw a show at which is why I commented on it. I used Solid as an example and stated the term raping to mean you've thrown your last how many shows there with another two scheduled coming up. |
