Actually too much Vitamin C can cause damage to the kidneys. Also your heart, DNA and other organs can be effected by oxidative damage. However oxidative damage wont occur from eating natural vitamin C through fruits and veg. I really dont understand how people have trouble getting natural vitamin C when fruit is probably one of the best tasting, cheeper, and easily available natural foods out there. Strawberry's and pineapples are very high in Vitamin C and my favorite. So indulge and enjoying eating good foods when your sick.

Yeah, my chiropractor got me on this regiment I recommended whenever I was sick, and it really works well. It's true that taking more that 1000mg or so wont be any more beneficial bc you can't absorb and use it, but 1000mg 3x a day seems to be a good dose/time ratio.
