I think you should only do it with people you love that you plan on marrying or at least in a long term relationship. of course you could always reason that what's 'safe' and 'fun' is problem free, but for many, sleeping with a lot of people will diminish your value. this applies for both guys and girl.

My morals pertaining to sex are that I need to feel extremely close, and generally love that person to be able to sleep with them. Now, I'm not saying that this is what it should be for everyone, but when a girl/guy is sleeping with multiple partners during one period of time, or is humping a different guy/girl each weekend, I can't respect her/him, which then comes the opinion of her/him being slutty/skanky/promiscuous/player/ho, etc.. She/he can do what she/he wants, as she/he is entitled to her/his own opinion, but in the same respect I am entitled to my own opinion, and my opinion is that she's/he's a slut!
I think it's definitely a word that is overused, and rarely used in the correct context, but to me it defines a type of girl or guy who doesn't respect herself/himself, and who is seeking approval and attention through the use of sex. It's sad, really. However, I often call my girlfriends and guyfriends sluts/whores/hos/skanks/players, etc. but the truth is that both they and I know I'm 100% joking because if they were that way, I wouldn't respect them, and I couldn't be friends with someone I didn't respect...so there you have it.

in the past, i too have brought up the 'slut' question
and i am sure i'll bring it up again and again, now that i'm teaching highschool whiuch is where i think the word is used the most by teen girls, to hurt other teen girls in the endless struggle for social dominance and recognition I'm easier then connect -the -dots for the right kind of man but that doesn't mean i'm gonna sleep with everyone some might call that slutty that really doesn't matter to me if you have self respect and are in control of your actions, sleeping with men for pleasure only and not chasing them around like a puppy afterward...all the power to ya sex for the right reasons is never a slutty thing and i think like the word queer, or fag that have been repocessed by the gay community - that slut will be taken back by the women i'm skank-a-licious...but i ain't no skank (that's right i teach English!)

Just be sure you are taking safety precautions, because s.t.d.s are becoming more wide spred and it will soon be a problem that will effect 1 in 7 people by 2010. because you sleep with someone, or multiple partners, does not make you a slut. it makes you experienced. im not saying go open your legs to just anyone, but dont be afraid to express yourself because you are afraid what other people are going to think. and girls, when you call other girls sluts, your just giving men more of an excuse to call women sluts too.

I notice curtain putdowns really hurt and effect ppl...
girls: slut, fat guys: small pp, wanker, toser, gay/fag (if straight) Therefore I think ppl use these terms as a quite kill when wanting to put down one an other. In most cases I think we all know its not even close to being true, but it still effects the person reciving the putdown depending on their self esteam. i think slut\bitch\asshole can still be used but only in two circumstances:
1.) girl\guy sleeps with girl\guy while knowing they have a significant other. 2.) girl\guy sleeps with girl\guy while having a significant other. and by significant other i mean a full on relationship. cheating kids, it aint cool.
