The Autobots and General Midi Breaks Room Line-Up: Autobots (UK) - Broke / Brock Out / Botchit / TCR / Supercharged The AutØbØts have racked up hundreds or gigs over the last 4 years with their instantly recognizable blend of tearing basslines and funky breaks. Many in their homeland UK, at clubs and events such as Eargasm @ Fabric, Breakspoll, Raindance, Spectrum, Beatworx, and many others, not forgetting their residency @ Fuse in Manchester. They also made appearances at Reading and Guildford festivals in 2003, and Glastonbury in 2004 as well as V Festival and The Glade in 2005. Abroad, the ‘bØts have played all over the world incorporating countries such as Japan, Russia, Czech Republic, Spain (over 30 times, including performing to 10,000 people at the Esparrago festival), Canada and 10 tours of the USA, including 4 appearances @ Winter Music Conference, in Miami. General Midi (UK) - Distinctive Records Crossman a.k.a General Midi has always managed to master a more level crunching, dub flavoured and bass fuelled musical ride than his peers and it is this that has earned him his fast growing reputation as the source of a great night out when he's at the controls and as 'the producer's producer'. Emerging from the backrooms of the Bristol Club scene his slick DJ ability and an ear for a great tune have given him regular appearances at breaks hotspots across the planet such as Fabric, Chew The Fat, Blow Pop, Sounds On Sundays (Sydney), Two Tribes (Australia), Zouk (Singapore), Budapest, all across the USA, Hungary, Spain, Serbia, China and Hong Kong. Teaming up with production partner Eelz, General Midi has been responsible for some of the most genre defining tunes in 'The Westoner' ('99) 'Daft Funk' ('01) 'Further' ('03) & 'You will Be Under' ('03), 'Entertainer' ('04), 'Bass Rockerz' ('04) & 'House of Funk' ('05). Over the last few years General Midi's singles have been released on some of the most respected breaks labels including TCR (Rennie Pilgrims label) & Kilowatt (Hyper's label). All of this has led to his debut artist album 'Midi Style' released now on Distinct'ive Records. Akeel - POUND Recordings / Copykat / Silverwaters / Swiftbeats With a music career now spanning more than a decade, this traditionally trained percussionist has brought his unique blend of tribal & indian rhythms to the world of beats and breaks. Akeel brings a unique element that fuses live percussion with top quality mixing talent, having played with the likes of Max Graham, Atomic Hooligan, Sharaz, the Planet of the Drums tour (Dieselboy, AK1200, Dara), Mad Knob Technicians, Klute, Sage,DJ Swamp, Big League Chu, DJ Rap, Dig-Dug and many others; you can't help but stare as he mixes with one hand and drums out a new beat with another. House Room Line-Up: Hirshee - Blow Media / Gossip / Twisted / AGROculture After discovering the sounds of house music Hirshee was instantly hooked. He has quickly made the shift and developed his new sound which has got him booked regularly in the Vancouver club and party scene. After a successful stint of DJ'ing around the west coast Hirshee has decided to move beyond the limitations of just DJ'ing and has taken the next logical step into the world of production. His love and passion for all music reflects in his production for house, as his sound can vary anywhere from harder electro to funky disco. Whatever it may be one thing is for sure, Hirshee will stand and deliver nothing but quality beats. As his ear for quality music has been with him and will continue to be with him for years to come; expect nothing but high energy, upbeat house bangers from this rising star. Andy Capp - POUND Recordings A veteran of the vancouver house scene, Andy Capp has been plying his trade across the city for over 8 years. Recognized for his seamless mixing and unique arsenal of 12" grooves, Andy's sound has been moulded from his own progression from Deep House and Downtempo to an eclectic blend of minimal and tech house. He has been a strong supporter of Vancouver's underground scene and his ability toconnect with the crowd and find the best track for any moment will always ensure the dancefloor is rocking when he is behind the 1's and 2's Loftey - Slow DJs Mr. Loftey has kept Vancouver dancefloors bumpin' for the past few years, playing a smooth blend of dirty jackin' house and funky breaks. What began as a breakbeat obsession progressed to funky house, and now the two sounds mixed together are Loftey's signature. His ability to read the crowd ensures that nobody is left standing still. VS. Smitch P - Slow DJs / Cherry System Smitch P got his break with a residency at Club Aqua in the summer of '04. Since then he has been recruited by SlowDj's and has been rippin through Vancouver with his JackinHouse/Progressive style. Has played such clubs as Lotus, 686, Shine, Cyber, Vibes, CherryBay, Waldorf and his latest accomplishment with Believe@RedRoom on a monthly bases. After signing up with SlowDj's he has played some massive parties such as Apex, Rise and the infamous SpanishBanks parties. ^noooo it's an awesome venue!!!
The downstairs room has like theatre-style seats in the back. I don't know if they'll have the upstairs open, but it's beautiful, art on the walls, hardwood floors, glass partitions, narrow stairways. I really like that place. |
