My Sexy Sexy Review
Ryan, Rick, and myself would like to thank everybody who supported us for this party and all of our past and future events.
Before I get into what happened at Sexy Sexy I will explain a little bit what we're all about As we all know the rave scene has changed over the years. Parties are scarce....Nobody seems to want to take a risk either legally or illegally...and its understandable, sometimes I wonder why I do it. I'm still waiting for that big payoff......lol so I'm not really throwing parties for the money....I guess its just the scene, I can't really imagine myself doing anything else. Our parties are different because they ARE NOT UNDERGROUND.....THEY'RE MASS PROMOTED & ILLEGAL and although we have an amazing track record of not getting shut down its a given that a certain percentage of our parties will get busted. We have thrown the highest quality (illegal) parties with the most interesting venues in town to keep things interesting and get you away from the same ol boring parties at the same ol boring venues. Plus I think the scene needs these kind of grassroots parties....most people in the scene nowdays have never even experienced parties like these that used to be so common (and legal) 3 or 4 years ago The downside to this is that with every party we threw, the better we would do next time, 200 people at Soundbombing tuned into 300 at Juicy and that turned into 600+ at our next couple parties and we had to be extremely creative to accomidate that and in my opinion we did quite well. The money we made from our last party would always go into more production of our next party As our parties got bigger we had to get more reponsible....with better security (for safety reasons) First Aid, safer venues, more attractions etc We can't do small parties with 200 people or less because our guestlist alone is 120 people + we'd just sell too many tix Which is great! but its either stop throwing parties or take the risk knowing that 1 screw up can cost us most of our loyal following of partyers as well as my life savings. So I ask you should we keep doing what we're doing? Would you support us in the future knowing that theres a risk of the party getting shut down? I'll see what I can do about a make up party for this show but to tell you the truth its near impossible to throw a another party that size and let all the ticket holders in for free ------------------ The reason Sexy Sexy got shut down There was a house party about 4 blocks away that got violent and the cops were called, everybody from the house just drove over to the "RAVE" down the street tough luck I persoanlly think Sexy Sexy was on its way to being one of the best parties of the year if it went allnight!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mad respects to you dave. we are all aware of what you are doing and you have aquired yourself a great deal of support and admiration from the masses.
i agree that the city is in a poor state right now for the rave scene but dont lose faith in it. There are many stupid promoters and shitty djs in the scene at the moment that are making it dull as well as other minor reasons but you definetly will get your payoff. with the club hours hopefully extending to 4am, and hopefully restoration of a more mature down to earth raver crowd, things can look bright again. but i guess we have to all work together and either filter out the stupid people in the scene or teach them a lesson on what an excellent scene needs. i'm sorry to hear about what happened at sexy sexy. you know you will get my full support for the make up party =) |

Dave,
I will support AGRO parties, even though this time I spent $40 for about 4 1/2hrs of entertainment. To the police of New Westiminster, why couldn't you just let us have our fun. A make-up party would be great, but if finacial and personal issues due arrise Dave then maybe its time to stop throwing parties. I have had a blast at ALL Agro parties. I hope everyone else has. Rigatoni suxs! Ill-Esha rocks! The maze is confusing! If anyone knows a short blond girl named "Molly", please get a hold of me. I finally got this girls name after seeing her at like 7+ parties. There was a lineup for the guys bathroom and none for the female. Hmm. Myles, 2 of your friends are hooked now. To everyone who went to 22nd St. Station, hope ya'll didn't piss off the roomate 2 much. FunFun tagged a cop car with an FnK sticker. Too bad we didn't get a picture. :( Sebcoe has a customized license with "Sebcoe". Woah! ~Tim Last edited by dj4mula; Nov 10, 02 at 11:02 AM. |

ok, it was fun. and quite entertaining as desiree and i were at the check point, i was thinking and we came up to where the event was. good idea :)
yes it sucks that it got shut down - but the thing is SHIT happens :n: i think as dave said, it would have totally been one of the best parties of the year .. yes it was hot, and slimy - but whats a better way then to sweat off some extra chubb and listen to some awesome music?! in regards to people with alcohol - when have you EVER been able to bring it in? serious, like maybe one or two parties, the thing is you have to realize it can get people in shit so just deal with the fact you got it jacked - and well you lost out. the music was dope - although the smaller room could have been a bit bigger :( but still good ... i enjoyed myself for the time the party went on ... the house room was totally off the hook, megs, bev and desi i think we should demand a pool table at all parties! i think it was dope to have a place where you could actually just chill & talk and be heard :) that was great overall i had a good time, and dont regret my $20 ticket - Dave, Ryan and Rick i think you did an amazing job at trying to get this party off. It sucks that it didnt work out, but really what can you do. And Dave in regards to your questions : Yes you should continue to do this And yes i would support knowning the chance that it could get shut down :) From all the 'agro' parties i've been to only two have been shut down, kick-it and sexysexy2. Which I think is a good record. I say continue, as at these parties I always seem to have a great time. Always :D Good luck in the future and as for anyone who didnt have a good time mainly because it was shut down at 2.30 ... you knew it was illeagl you knew there was a chance that it could get shut down you knew it could happen you should learn how to deal with it (yes this is my repost ok plur and deal with it) and tim ive meet molly too - she's so cute i belive dalyn knows her :) |

I thought the party was bumpin from the time I got in there to the time I left. Dave you have a reliable production company going and you have always thrown the most enjoyable parties from my point of view. Heck, you were the guy that started Toxic Tuesdays which were a success for a looong loooong time. Anywho keep up the good work and your past events have left nothing but "good times" for me to remember.

damn, i wish i could of gone!
sounds like it was alot of fun (even if it got shut down early). but i have to work (fri, sat, sun, mon night) so it wouldn't be good for me, plus i'm sick. but i'mma try and make it out for the next one =) and dave, keep throwing parties! although i don't always make it out to all of em, the ones i do go to i always have fun at! i don't care if there's a risk of it getting shut down, that just comes with it. if i was paying $50+ for a ticket or something, then i'd be a little pissed. but your tix are always cheap. =) so good stuff. keep it up! |

We saw some kid wearing a junglist cap and bright yellow jacket with camo gear get jumped outside on braid street after midnight, kid was screaming like a girl we ran over to see what was goin on and guy was getting assraped in the bushes
overall this was my first party and we were all sad that it got shut down early, maybe the gang rape had something to do about it? |

i went to a rave last nite?! last nite was cwazy! i rushed there from a dance performance and i was gettin 50 gazillion calls and 49 gazzillion of them were from jamil puttin a guilt trip on me for not having any tickets...i still dont understand that one
ummmm rushed to richmond to get cups and tickets... drank when we got to the check point. chris's friend surprised me with how much bacardi he gave me and rite when i got to the party i was flying. most of that i dont remember... went upstairs for few mins and ran back downstairs to breath. after that i just remember strippin off layers and layers of clothing and dancing on the pool table grinding with megan and allie and some other chick?! 5 seconds went by and it got busted. BOOOOO! LOVED THE VENUE TOOO MUCH SO MUCH... i *heart* agro/funk boiz parties. 2:30 was an upset but wut can u do rite?.. continuing on.. then i puked and some hot guy asked for my number and i gave him my local police station number.. and next thing someone violated my ass. :soak: then the next thing i found an fnk sticker on my ass so i pulled it off and slapped it onto the 50s car?! wahhh??? yah sebcoe's lisense is PIMPED. shoved into a car and went to megs where everyone were just drawing non stop and snoozing and pj dude groovin to the drum n bass. tat was fuked up. next thing i found myself in another house eatin spicy doritos and water while condoms were flyin around. somehow i stayed in the same spot for 5 hours talkin away about drugged up beanie babies and how cdn brder likes sausage....ETC. next thing i found myself eatin lunch with my parents..... WTF! ryan and dave..thank u guys soooo much. i loved every minute of the show and every single thing u guys have done for everyone including me. u guys are more than awesome... u guys rock. Dave, Ryan, Rick and da crew:
For the short time I was there last night I had a great time - thanks to you all for your hospitality. I thought the party, the venue and all your efforts were awesome. In answer to your question Dave, should you keep doing this? -- Absolutely. That risk will ALWAYS be there given thenature of the parties that you do. Your track record to date has been great and last night was certainly not due to you guys but rather a bunch of idiots from a party down the road. There is a limited scene in general right now with not a whole lot of parties going off of any kind so yes, please keep throwing your parties regardless of the risk. The bottom line is people want a choice - sometimes they like to to go to the massives to hear a headliner or two other times they want to hear some sick music, with a tighter vibe. The only suggestion I would have is to perhaps put a cap on the number of attending people IE: max of 500. There is no doubt that you can sell out that party but it would force people to get tickets early and allow you to find a more controllable venue. You have to be really careful with the kind of parties that you throw as if they grow too big, you might as well call them a massive - keep in small, intimate and the vibe tight. Peace. Oh and Ill-Esha rocked it last night as did Dave Armstrong. |
