Wow, okay, its Tuesday and I think its finally time for me to post a proper review. Let me say first that I thought this year was gonna be easy. Wasn't planning on doing a stage this year, we just offered to help out with the Vision 1 stage if they needed extra hands setting up etc. I was hoping to show up, get hammed and play my set.
But on Friday afternoon I got a call from True saying they did not have enough gear to do the Vision 1 stage. My buddy Arash and I spent the rest of the day calling in every favor we could remember being owed to piece together enough gear for the stage. We ended up lucking out and getting a 4 over 4 setup from one company and renting some scaffolding from some place in Richmond last minute. Then, as if that wasn't enough pre-Apex drama, we get a call from the company doing our power that they don't have enough cabling to get all the way to the stage location which resulted in some last minute positioning changes. Big shouts to Stimmy, Rhia, and Arby for letting us squeeze in. In the end though, everything came together perfectly and well, the results spoke for themselves this weekend. The DJs on Vision 1 were phenomenal! Amanda laid down a truly sick speed garage set, dark, dirty, a little bit housey, all of it bumping. Maggie, likewise, pulled out all the stops and treated the masses to some thumping electro, followed by her beau, Impact who bought out the hard trance and hardstyle in true form. Dub C then rocked the crowd with some non-stop vocal trance that had a sea of party kids screaming. I was up to deck at 4:30 and after my set I was pretty much k-o'd and fell asleep in our jeep so I don't remember much of Traiq or SmokeOne's sets, but when I woke up there were still at least a hundred people given'er at our stage at 7AM, so I say mission accomplished, see you all next year.
