well that decision is up to her. she doesn't want to take your offer and I can understand...after talking to like 6 Shaw guys about it (all of them just lied to her) she grew tired of this...no surprise.
you don't have to confirm to us that Shaw shapes traffic...we already know that, thanks. dozens of other slsk users know it as well. the only one who doesn't seem to know is you...the guy who works there...that says it all. what could you do anyway? "hey boss so would you plz uninstall that Ellacoya thingy? I have no clue what it is, but please!" haha...cute. Quote:

Lots of paranoia in this thread. If an ISP is going to be offering real-time services such as VOIP, obviously they're going to need some sort of qos mechanisms in place. My uploads are fine, and I don't think they're using it to curb filesharing... but even if they are, I could understand it. Bittorrent alone accounts for something like 35% of the Internet's total traffic.
Maybe your friend should dish out an extra $10/month (half the price of your standard CD at HMV) for shaw Extreme so that he/she can download music faster. |

ERA Channels= Extended Reach Area Channel
Channels are located in fibre optic-fed buildings or certain service switches. These allow the ADSL signal to travel further than 1600 ohms. So really, you can be QUITE far away from anything before you start to experience slower speeds. People in tumbler ridge are getting 6.0! Theres no way in hell we have a CO out there. but really, its brand loyalty and who you like. |
