Ticket prices killing the Vancouver Rave Scene?!
Ticket prices killing the Vancouver Rave Scene?
I really dont have a clue why some other places around the globe are giving the scene a chance to grow and others are just being stuck up "business men" and charging an arm and a leg for ticket prices. Looking at these rediculous ticket prices, how could more people be interested in going to the next rave when they simply dont have the cash to spend on a $60+ ticket to see what, 3 headliners?! In places like Calgary, London, even Dubai, they seem to know whats up and give the people a chance and a run for their money. It is pretty much killing the scene, high ticket prices aren't going to bring in more kids , its going to simply scare them away. And what completely shocked me were the $200 tickets that were being sold for Doom's Night, are you people out of your mind?! Goodness. But hey, without high priced tickets, you kids wouldnt have ur lasers and fancy lights would you. Anyways, lets see what u others gotta say about this. |

how the fuck can you say ticket prices are killing a scene where raves are OVERSOLD?
that means that there are more people than the venues allow who are more than willing to buy tickets. sounds like a scene that's dieing to me. you have to take into consideration the cost of putting an event on, and also the bylaws and police. perhaps in other locations around the world the bylaws allow for larger parties and the cost is lower, which means they can sell more tickets for less money. really now, from what i read and hear it's hardly a dieing scene. |

---------- obviously if the ticket prices were only like $15-20(or any othe cheap price), you'd be paying for a $15-20 party, shitty visuals, shitty djs, and all the rest that comes with that. |

let all pay $100 2 watch djs play records and get high
haha raves are sooo stupid ill only ever support the local scene with small ticket prices. bringin in these overated djs is such a waste of $ we shood start bringin in live PA to actually justify these ticket prices i havent been 2 a rave since 2003 btw |

Actually, I've seen a lot more scum at bigger, more expensive parties than I have at smaller ones. Oh, and I really hope this thread doesn't merit the standard promoter response about how apparently 'spoiled' ravers are in Vancouver. That is a disgusting attitude for a business to reflect to its customers. |

Don't like like expensive parties? Don't support them. There are plenty of promoters around who throw small cheap parties, that IMO kick the shit out of big events as far as vibe goes. |

SHITTY VISUALS! Yeah, an extra 50 dollars is so worth it for the lasers!!@#$ ps- if more expensive parties attracted a more 'high class crowd' can someone explain all the underaged hoochies to me? Sorry, did I miss the memo explaining how that was classy? If I tried leaving the house like that when I was that age I'm pretty sure my mother would tell me I looked like a cheap whore! :) |

that would eliminate a large following of underagers for sure which could potentially hurt the scene more than needed, but the underaged kids who can compose themselves to act mature in a way to convince the bouncers to accept their fake id's will find a way to come in anyways... and possibly a more mature crowd can be seen... but aside that massives are expensive cuz they actually pay the djs, fly in djs and pay for their hotel bills, staff, venue... etc etc. of all the underground parties i've played at, i've been paid ONCE! and they apparantly lost a shitload of money from paying djs 30-60 bucks each. as for the younger sluts the massives attract... maybe they don't wanna be a dirty sketchy unsafe venues? hehe *shrugs* |
