Too much synthwork to be considered straight up house. One of the shining qualities of house music was its organic (ie real instrument) sound. That plucky synth sound that you get (do do do do) and the sawsynth harmonies that come in are pretty typical of the electro trend that started to surge forth at that time. Mylo is pretty definitively electroclash from the era... I really don't think you can call that song straight up house. Not to mention it was really the first shining star of the House Mashup Anthem stuff that came pretty directly out of electroclash.

granted, that first Kanye vid has a couple of sounds in it that are a bit on the synthetic side, but it's more about the groove and the vocals than it is about the crazy synth sounds.

I realize I'm kinda being a genre nazi here, but seriously man. Drop The Pressure is, was, and always will be electro.

There's been a lot of underground buzz over deep house and acid house making a comeback, as folks are getting worn out by the cold, clinical aesthetics of electro and minimal. Larry Heard's Sun Can't Compare was one of the bigger hits from last year.

it was electro house wich switched me off of DNB and into the whole 4/4 electro-blogoverse.

basically from 98- may-ish of 07(the bbc justic mix) all i would ever listen to would be Dnb/jungle so this genre of house,its sounds, its experience, is all very new and exciting for me...

That's soulful house dub shit. If you're into that type of music, you better check out Street Corner Symphony- Street Corner Symphony. I was lucky enough to work at the clubs in the late 90's and have club courtesy to all the afterhours. I must admit, it was intense. More crantinis?
