I don't care if I heard the track 2 years ago or am listening to it for the first time... I listen to music from the 50s on a daily basis. Often times I listen to music from the 1800s. It's all vibration and there's nothing I vibe with better on the dancefloor than dnb.

The benefit of this low period in Vancouver is it gives the heavy supporters a chance to network before the next wave picks up and suddenly everyone's a fan again. This will help develop a stronger core like the one that existed during the Automatic Tuesdays era. Hopefully that means that when the genre is on fire again, promoters won't be throwing big shows on the same night and fighting for attention like they were when I moved away.

d'n'b producers have always been interested in other music. it's essential to drum'n'bass more than any other genre, i'd say, because drum'n'bass isn't defined by a sound or a vibe like house or punk. it's an open format: breakbeats at 170+ and a bassline. that's why it's been able to change and evolve more than any other electronic genre. you could make country d'n'b if you wanted. |

and i disagree that d'n'b is dead in this city. there may be a lack of big headliners, but that's not where the scene is. i've been enjoying d'n'b shows a lot more in the last year than years previous. for me i think that has a lot to do with "obligation" not being a reason to go out anymore and i think that may be true for a lot of people. i don't feel a have to support so-and-so, or the scene, or have to check out big wig 'cause their big. i go out to have fun and i've been seeing a lot more of that in crowds as well lately, which is good. if you're not there to enjoy yourself, then stay home.

how's the metalheadz website coming along?
i could be wrong, but srsly, the labels and whatnot are terrible and have been as long as i can remember. dnbarena has been glitchy from the get-go and most labels have very little relevant content, are always late with info, go down for months to years at a time, if they have a website at all, in my experience. i know you dug into d'n'b a lot harder than i did so i'd take your word for it. or are you simply referring to online communities/fans/DJs?
