I never liked trance. But I have always loved dnb. And you're right, in Vanocuver it is dead. But I also think the whole "rave" scene is dead. Not that I have been to a rave in forever, but the last few I was at in 2005/06 were awful. So it's not just 1 genre of music that is dead in Van. It's the rave scene in general. House does well these days though doesn't it? I don't really go out anymore so I'm not really in the know.

Granted it was the main reason of main room raves for a long time, but dnb was mostly in the 2nd room.
i'd rather hear trance at a club now (which i do a lot) than at a rave, same thing goes for dnb.

If i ever went to another rave, i'd be kicked out in under 30 seconds for laughing my face off at everyone.
plus, nothing is appealing these days at raves.

i can go to a club, drink my fav beer, listen to electronic.

They all have to do with the "scene", I just called it the "rave scene". It's all part of Vanocuvers electronic scene. And I think it's pretty small compared to other citys in the world. Which takes me back to my first post in this thread...

hmm i too prefer clubs over raves. but the two do obviously coincide with eachother.

but on the topic of trance versus drum and bass. well i think only ishkur said it right. "trance is dead, ferry corsten killed it."
i havent heard any fresh new ideas in trance that completely rewrote the genre in a long time. whereas drum and bass is still going through some drastic and sometimes strange changes, and even in the past 3 or 4 years has gone through noticable change. i mean the queues at junglenights in london are still to this day winding around the block.. so "scenes" aside, the music itself is still moving and evolving.

then again i stopped paying as much attention to the trance scene quite awhile ago.... is there anything reportable going on with it as a whole? or is it still the same ol swaying your arms to the 3 minute buildup routine? thats not rhetorical either id like to know.

not really. like whats his name said, lots of dnb producers are turning to dubstep, house or even mashup and glitch shit. and like the other guy said. dnb is dead. pendulum killed it.
