most checkpoints where better than the actual party.
i remember, for the life of me i cant remember the party, they had us go to some checkpoint at some minimall. that totally didnt look suspicious when there's 30 cars sitting at a minimall. none the less, we were there for hours, the party kept on getting busted and the backup venues where fucked up too. oh, memories! |

I agree producers need djs and vice-versa.
I think the ppl writing music should get paid a bit more (but not WAYYYY more) than the djs who do not write tunes when they go out to play-- If their music has gained attention/recognition.... I stated what i think is fair DJ wages ..I get paid DJing ..I usually do not get paid producing musics...I depend on a fair DJ wage too.....But there could be a lot more and cooler events at COOLER and more expensive to rent sites around here.....If and when local DJs asked for $200 or $300 instead of $500 -$800 to come out and PLAY..That is how it seems in my area anyways. |

"what's this i hear about you breaking a rake and throwing it into the woods?"
"I didn't *break* it, I was merely testing its durability, and I *placed* it in the woods cause it's made of wood and I wanted it to be near its family. |

.. You stole my comeback....
I wish monkeys could do my f/t job....i have heard of monkeys djing ...... "Aila, a 10-year-old capuchin monkey, retrieves a compact disc from inside a cd player as she demonstrates the tasks that trained monkeys can accomplish...." I doubt a trained monkey would have the skills needed to build this: Castlegar Rotary Skate Park, Castlegar, B C, Canada - CoastalBC.com In defense of the "bedroom" dj comment... i just finished playing 4 shows in the last 3 weeks- :) ..Fun times for me :) Last edited by suplex; May 27, 08 at 07:27 AM. |

No introduction necessary my friend.
I remember the days when you went by a diferent name. Those were good days. I forsee some good ones comin up too. In the end the truth is that producers and DJ's need each other. But what we both need more than that is a strong community in which to play our music. As a group we have enough outside problems, such as the police, to be bickering amoungst each other over the semantics of our differing tastes in tunes. As a whole we need to start supporting each other more. Now as far as bedroom producers jumping on a band wagon goes... I say good on ya. Anyone who has the patience to sit there and sort through sounds until they hear what they want is already on the right track. Nobody sits down at a computer and starts pumpin out Nosia after 6 months. If you suck....who cares?? Do it 'cause you love it and you'll get better. One last thing. I'm not hatin' on DJ's. I am one myself. All I'm saying is that if you're a creative person, then one day it's just not going to be enough. One day the urge to get that song that's playin' in your head out, is going to overwhelm you. Why not make that day today? Now who wants to party??? Rubber Solstice.....June 21st @ The Sweatshop Trill Bass (L.A.) vs DJ Lord of Public Enemy (Atlanta) Ill Gates aka The Phat Conductor (Toronto) Excsion (Kelowna) $20 pre sale. +19 event. |
