Interpol is where its at. I can't seem to stop listening to them. I'm addicted.
I've heard really good things about walkman FLAMING LIPS Broken Social Scene - from TO, sooo worth checking out modest mouse is without a doubt amazing, more so for me with the latest i for one, enjoy the killers and am also a strokes fan but i guess they are considered olds new, even if most high demand groups now have been making music for a long time and could be considered old. I also like what i've heard from the shins and some Elliot. Smith for me is required here and there esp. the tracks which are on the good will hunting soundtrack. Question..am a huge coldplay fan but have not yet checked out their new CD, any thoughts? Also, are there ben folds five fans on this site, i'm curious to know if its recommended or not. First album was more off the walls and edgy IMP, Good new for ppl who love hearing bad news is more collected/easy on the ears/catchy and is why i feel it appealed to so many people. Personally, ive heard it one too many times. After a while it starts to sound like a played out Britney spears track, but i still love it all the same and would be thrilled to hear it drunk at a bar just as if BS were to come on in the same state. im rambiling. bed time. |

Judging from what you listed I'd recommend
Boysetsfire The Faint (for the second time) Kaiser Chiefs Blue Sky Mile Rise Against Straylight Run (these guys are amazing) Story of the Year The Dissociatives (includes Daniel Johns of Silverchair on vocals) Last edited by Cdn_Brdr; Jun 05, 05 at 06:11 PM. |

Pinback, Dysrhythma and the Starlight Mints too...amazing bands
I think K-os is supposed to make an appearance on the new Broken Social Scene record, that should be neat to hear. What's that music video by them? with all the honey or peanut butter on the glass, and there is this silhouette of these two baby bears just licking it off...and the whole thing is shot from the other side..so rad! With the sun shining through and eveything |

M83 rules. I love them.
I just listened to a couple tracks off the new A Perfect Circle album... I'm loving the Imagine cover... The Faint has been sitting on my "Favourite Band" mantle since I first discovered them back in late December. LCD Soundsystem. Saw them at the Commodore last month and they fucking rocked the house. The pet project of the DFA's James Murphy (DFA is the team/label that put out The Rapture among others). Their self-titled album that came out earlier this year is off the fucking wall. My favourite tracks are On Repeat, Tribulations, Movement and Disco Infiltrator. I have their single Losing My Edge on vinyl, which was the first LCD song I discovered when one of the Duncan hipsters told me to check them out when I told him I was getting into Electroclash. And Soulwax did a really cool remix of Daft Punk Is Playing At My House where they interspersed Murphy's lyrics with a bunch of samples from Daft Punk songs. I hear Mono is great if you're into the Space-Rock/Post-Rock Mogwai type stuff, but I've never heard them myself. And if you really want to convince a hipster you know what you're talking about, check out Neutral Milk Hotel. Very raw rock music. |

Dammit, what happened to the thread I made about great bands.. I'd put together a shit load of reviews on there.
Here's my latest, from a couple of discs I picked up: Kaiser Chiefs - _Employment_ : 7/10 Need a few spings thru this yet.. some very catchy stuff, but not very complex musically. Songs lack depth so they don't make a lasting impression on me.. still, I don't think Cdn Brdr owes me my money back; there's some fun stuff on here. Keane - _Hopes and Fears_ : 8.5/10 Possibly climbing to a 9.. hey, you know how Travis used to be really good in the 90s? We all loved songs like "Driftwood" and "Why Does it Always Rain on Me?".. but now they suck. There's good news though! Keane is the new Travis. Actually, this album is probably more solid than anything the latter ever put out... 11 tracks and only a couple that aren't thouroughly enjoyable.. There's a reason it was Album of the Year 2004 in the UK. |
