House and Trance are based on the same 4/4 basic structure. There is no variance between the two within their basic makeup. If you are listing to "Trance" that is not on a 4/4 beat then it is not trance and probably falls under the Breakbeat catagory. You can go into hundreds of sub-catagories. But the basis your saying doesnt make sense! *And sorry for the comment then! Last edited by project.one; May 26, 06 at 12:14 AM. |

trance is the easiest style of music to learn how to spin. and its also the most boring style of music to hear being mixed. sorry son, but you have no clue as to what makes a skilled dj. #1 spot on some bloated wank rag of a magazine dont mean shit. |

House and Trance are different in NAME ONLY. Both do the boring 1234 2234 3234 4234 over and over and over. Both can sound boring when mixed PvD robot style. Both can be trainwrecked just as easily Paul Joakenfold lookatmeidid18linesofblow style. Both can sound great and be mixed very creatively Eddie Halliwell threedeckswhilescratching style. The trick is not to limit one's self to one style and say i'm a trance dj and i only play hard euphoric uplifting bouncey yourmom style trance. That shit is boring. I respect DJs more who spin a wide array of music and don't just MIX well (technically, to the bar, 4,16,32,64,128,256,512 steeze), whilst incorporating the odd cut, scratch, or beatjuggle, but pay attention to flow and make their sets a 'journey' so to speak. Anyone can say they play multiple genres and go from house to trance or vice versa, but anyone who mixes from yoji biomehanika to ian pooley is straight up laughable.
In short, NO, trance is not harder to mix than house, NO, house is not harder to mix than trance. Some people just try to justify the fact that they can't mix better and couldn't mix house to save their life (or trance). You have to have a real ear for music to understand what sounds mix well together and which ones clash. No, I'm not talking about beatmatching, I'm talking about melody, and the KEY of a track. Mixing is EASY, mixing WELL is hard. Anyone can beatmatch, but few people can keymatch and blend tracks, let alone different styles easily. Think about that shit before you say one is EASIER to mix than the other. |

They may share the same or similar beat structure, but thats pretty much where all similarities end. you might as well say Speed Garage and Techno, or Acid and Disco are different in name only. |

Had you come in here and said that, no one would have cared. You would have just been another person who likes trance. There are lots on here who like trance and we all get along! THATS what got me mad! You need to go back to Nexopia or www.ilovetiestio.com or something and talk on there. I think WizzFish made you a nice little forum! http://www.fnk.ca/board/showthread.php?t=95210 Last edited by project.one; May 26, 06 at 12:04 PM. |
