True, but I'd say if a venue is continuously populated by people well into their adulthood, wouldn't that suggest that what goes on at such venues is "grown up" activities?

To my understanding at one point VPD was asking clubs not to allow anyone wearing attire from Affliction, Ed Hardy, Christian Audigier into any of the clubs since they strongly believed that anyone wearing those brands was a gangster. 2 of my friends ended up getting refused at the door at one of the clubs because of it. And I know for a fact that they are not into any criminal activity at all.

So really I wouldn't be suprised whether indeed Kraigs post was legit. However the question still remains.. Under provincial and federal laws does the city have any right to enforce this dress code thing...?
I mean I can understand how the city manages permits say for things like tobacco and alcohol since its control based under both provincial and federal laws... But there isn't any laws that I have ever heard of about any types of clothing, whether it be designer hoodies/shirts, skirts, etc....

In order to have an all-night event, the city needs to approve a permit.

In that permit, the city really can have whatever provisions they damn well please, including a dress code. They're well within their right to demand that.

Kids can still slut it up all they want, just not at these events.

What would be a violation of our rights is if they started banning booty shorts in public.

it is perfectly fair for a venue or promoter to have adress code for thier event, but for the CITY to come in and tell people what they can and cannot wear at a show is completely unconstitutional.

Honestly? No. Lot's of people (especially these days) in their 30s refuse to be a 'grown up' - they want to stay young forever. Hence people still going to 'grown up' venues pretending they are 'grown ups' because they are around mostly people their own age - but really they are still at a rave. I honestly don't think you could call most 30 somethings 'grown up' these days.
