City of Vancouver - DRESS CODE @ RAVES

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

The City of Vancouver is enforcing a dress code for women attending "All Night Dance Events." Patrons not abiding by this dress code will be asked to change or will be asked to leave. A note that this dress code would apply for any "All Night Dance Event" held by any promoter in the City of Vancouver. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Dress code particulars follow:

NOT ALLOWED AS OUTERWEAR
- Booty Shorts/Hot Shorts/Micro-mini Skirts
- Lingerie
- Swimsuits/Underwear

STILL ALLOWED
- Baby Ts
- Tank Tops
- Tube Tops
- Shorts/Skirts (covering buttocks)

Its very understandable for anyone who is underage and I understand the city's concerns and why it would be enforced.

It just kinda sucks for everyone who is of aged and it gets fucking hot in the venues!!!

It could lead to harassment and the City/Police, etc. are ultimately responsible for the public's safety.

How it would be enforced is simple? As the note mentions, anyone not abiding by the City's request, will be asked to leave by the Police or Security.

This dress code applies to both MLC and PNE parties - any event within the City of Vancouver operating limits.

I say we protest it by having a "whore off" event at the steps of the vancouver art gallery!!!

Clubs don't run till 7AM hence ALL NIGHT implies in runs all night long. Clubs (for now) will not be effected.

ya but think of the after hour clubs that are out there that run almost to 7 am.... Thats why I am saying what would the city would classify as an "All Night Dance Event"... either/or or the whole thing...

There is only one LEGAL after hours venue (which has a separate operating license that is not classified as an all night dance event) and that is Gorg.

Yeah, something tells me this is just for anything licensed to be an all-hours event. So afterhours and illegal parties need not worry?

Having a dress code should be the least of an ILLEGAL/un-licensed after hours or party's concern. They would get broken up way before a dress code would be enforced.

Been to plenty of unlicensed parties where the cops have shown up and done SFA. Usually because they aren't populated by kids. All cops really care about is teenagers on drugs and noise complaints. Selling the "private party" line to them is really just a matter of promoter preparedness.

there is still the unenforced under/over 19 bylaw. and really for the best considering some girls dont seem to think it makes them a target.

really - it is a mature move by the city instead of saying no more all together.
