Apex 2007 on CTV News

I don't understand why that video is news over a year later.
Wait, it took them 15 months to analyze the drugs seized from last year's Apex? Is that was the big deal about that story? Does this strike anyone else as a colossal waste of time and money? Hey, RCMP/government, if you're that flipping concerned, how about investing that time and manpower into detox and addiction counselling programs? Would make more of a difference.... |

naturally i am disappointed in this segment. while they put emphasis on the drug itself, they dont put any light on the prevention or the measures taken to prevent use. they once again dive into how raves are to blame for the drug problem. i dont see this necessarily as a waste of money, but i am disappointed we are painted in such a poor light. 30% of the idiots that go to apex may be high on pills that are 70% meth, the other 70% of people are there for another reason. (a side - i really think they need to do an expose on the jackass that goes to a nightclub 6 out of 7 nights a week and drinks his face off. it is just as addictive, just as unpredictable and could create just as many detrimental health problems.) |

I could definitely think of more useful ways to spend those resources. It seems extremely redundant and unproductive.Just sayin... And on your last point, I totally agree. |

while it doesnt seem to do anything for those who already have a problem, it does raise awareness for those who dont know that they have that problem yet. it is just disappointing that they use "raves" as the scapegoat, cause i have a lot of friends that hate raves but do e weekly. it isnt just a "rave" drug anymore. |

I do see your point, I get it, I just think the whole approach is lame. Boo bland watered-down unoriginal mass media. Boo ignorant suburbia. Boo. |

drugs and addiction have been around forever, you cant combat this through prohibition. |

70% of people might be there for "another reason" but the majority of everyone at that party is fucked up on some sort of chemical cocktail. Not only that but they drive home after. Not only that but a high percentage of them are 15 years old. I also agree that E isnt a rave drug anymore but a lot of these kids would never come across it if it weren't for big parties like this. I know I wouldn't once a year.
