i'd just like to say that i've got no problems with the way things went down from my end, agroculture and la cosa nostra did everything they could to keep the event going, and made sure that they didn't leave me hanging wondering if i was still doing a stage

that said, we're still doing a stage on saturday...those who know, know.....

really sucks that this party was cancelled, no offence to you dave or the promotors... but me and my friends have been planning this day for so long, all my friends work everyday in the week pretty much, so any make up party beyond this weekend is completely out of question to get my friends together , some of which are moving away in sept... so all our money is down the drain, along with alot im sure that these hard working people put into this party....it upsets me that there wasen't a huge turnout that woulda happened 3 years ago... what has happened?

Vancouver's scene isn't large enough to sustain these kinds of parties ... striaght up

the only way a show of this calibre can work in Van is if its got a name to it like summer love (but even SL fucked up last year) , or if it's thrown on a special day like halloween , new years etc

It's good to see someone had the balls to at least try to do something big ... give Vancouver some time ... we're not on the decline ... were just not growing as fast as some of us wish we were.

Paitence people

^ Dave and Rick.... sorry to hear that you had to cancel... would habe been the party of the summer (well next to Shambhala)....

Maybe this will now make promoters realize that a HUGE headliner party is not feesible in Vancouver.... I think that if you guys had half the headliners and more locals (and good locals that play out and make $$ as DJs, not some kid that started DJing three months ago and will play for free), you could have pulled it off....
Not at all saying that you fucked up.... really respect the fact that you had a line up that would rival a festival in Europe- but I think it's time for promoters to start pushing the dance music scene in our own city. Make some of our talent into Headliners in our own city.... but none the less really sorry to hear that things worked out the way they did.

PS: NEXT Sound System will still be running on Saturday... right Jay?

I have read all the threads and am saddenned by the animosity generated by some people here. The facts are plane tix, equipment, a multitude of stages that were to house world class acts (which by the way come with world class price tags) sleepless nights of fliering every freaking place, and people b@#$. My heart goes out to Dave, Nathan and Rick. You guys were trying to pioneer an event that would have blown any notion of 'rave' out the window. This was not going to be a freaking massive, this was going to be monumental. A true gift to the western Canadian scene. I am puzzled at the amount of tickets sold and wonder why??? All my support goes out to la costra nostra/agroculture and anything I can do to help I will.
These guys have BUSTED their asses off and don't deserve to be vebally abused by little 14 year old idiots on a message board. Get a grip guys. You would be singing a different tune if this went off. Imagine it was YOUR party....and it didn't happen. Something you had been living, eating and breathing for months all of a sudden gone.
Have a heart. This is why the scene is in trouble. We need to pull together and help eachother out, not kick people when they are down. It is just plain rude.

Maybe outdoor parties has died off in Vancouver. Have you noticed a large majority of ravers are asian. It seems most asians do not like outdoor parties. I hope this isn't a sign for the future of the scene. But maybe AGRO and crew will be taking the hit for the scene and something will be done because of it.

Hip-hop & rave acts all in one place. It would have been great and its something that Vancouver has rarely scene. It has worked in Seattle, NY and even TO. I'm still in shock that RN got cancelled. Again, bigup to everyone involved in this event. Best of luck in the future.

vesperstina... my friends work at jobs were the managers get very pissy when time is asked off, they had to send in a formal letter a month ago to get this week off , so now that they got this week off they can't ask for anymore time off, because its already there week off heh... well shit happens... we were all disappointed, but whatever... were gonna come out to the make up party tommorow and have a great time together.... im hoping dabbler and manos one are still playin sets.... dabbler laid down a dope set when he opened for ed rush at richards.... peace... and good luck to you agro/nostra/diesal

Well im sure none of you know me, but i must say that as a newbie to the scene, things like this discourage not only myself, but also many of my friends from continuing to attend events such as this. I realise there was very little that could be done to avoid this, but at the same time, me and 4 friends put down a total of 225$ (plus 10 other people i know who bought tickets) on tickets to go a party that isnt going to go off now. As far as i have heard we will not only be getting none of that back, but we also now have a bunch of caps we aren't going to do. I think things like this may be a part of the reason why there is a growing lack of support for the scene. I know this may well discourage a bunch of my friends from going to any future parties... As for the plaza parties, I've been to 2 and i'm sick of em already, people are dumbasses who should support bigger and better things like this..
Pce out

FUCK THIS!.. WHAT THE FUCK?!! this doesn't make sense. why did you wait until now to tell us?.. you must've known at least a few days ago that it'd be cancelled, otherwise the djs would've already been flown into BC. you made so many people lose SO MUCH money, not just tickets, fucking drugs. you mother fucker. i mean, i'm sorry that this party bailed, but you could've at least saved us all a load of money spent on drugs, FUCK.

i would have to agree....the majority of party goers are asian....and a majority of those asians are nammers.....young and old....which i'm sure everyone on this board knows what i'm talking bout. I'm sure they are the reason why plaza parties do well even with a mediocre lineup. Big props to agro and crew for giving it their best shot and putting on a show with such world class calibre. Unfortunately i don't think the majority of the partiers in vancouver are educated enough about the scene, and the music. Everyone on this board i'm sure knew that the lineup for this show showcased world class talent, but i'm sure this board only represents a small percentage of the people that love and appricate what promoters are doing for the scene in vancouver. Best of luck to agro and crew.....you'll get 'em next time.

I know I've posted in this thread WAY too many times already...

But I'm feeling more complacent now, and wanted to say thanks to AGRO, DieselRave and La Costra Nosta for trying. It musta been tough watching this (not) happen. Good luck, guys!

P.S. I hope something goes down as a replacement though! My $50 :S

you've got to be lying. there must be even more than 300 people on this site alone that have bought a ticket. i don't know any ravers, i don't have any raver friends; yet, i alone knew at least 30 people that were going to the show. are you serious?, please at least be honest about how many tickets you sold. if you had all that advertising mutherfuckin shit, YOU'RE LYING.

^^^ Simplify .... simmer.

they didn't have enough presale tickets.

and about your 'drugs' .. if you like 'em so much, do them anyways, drugs last awhile - you can do them at another party, or any other time in fact.

no one told you to buy drugs, dom't complain about spending money on them.

simmer.

i really dont think this is the case. I have been going to parties for about 3 years now and i dont believe there is the support for the outdoor parties as there is for the indoor parties. If this party was at plaza or another indoor venue I am sure it would have sold out. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens at IMF. I already have my ticket.
peace

Simplify:

You must have known days in advance to fly people out here....

Well let me break it down for you:

Sissorkicks has been here since wed (he played at the lotus thursday night) as well as Tatiana Alvarez who also arrived wed.
Anne Savage played Seattle last night so getting her hre wasn't a big deal (It is only an hour plane ride or three hour drive you know)
D:fuse is still in the states (either in Portland or Cali I can't remember...again a short trip here)
The Beatnuts are already in Vancouver
As were Jon the Dentist and David Hollands .....

I realize you are pissed. Everyone is.
Having a tantrum because you bought drugs and now have nowhere to take them is just plain juvenile. You should be ashamed of yourself. Take responsibility for your own actions. I have been in the scene long enough to have sufferred my share of cancelled (and note not refunded shows: Dave Seaman, X-Factor defunkt hallowe'en party through lounge X as well as many many others)
Parties get cancelled due to many reasons but what would you rather have had happenned?? Go to the party and find that there was a scarce amount of people, and only half the acts playing????
My buddy Aaron Simpson from Seattle was supposed to come up and trust me I am upset. I haven't seen him or Tom in months. Be upset over not reconnecting with friends or not being able to experience D:fuse"s cowboy hat fanatics, or Anne Savage's smile when she slides the mix in or the smiles of people busting it when you look around....don't bitch about your stupid drugs.
Silly rabbit trix are for kids.
