The Eatery is great for off the wall rolls and stuff; but you really haven't experienced it until you've gone to dinner there with Farshad et al.

I figured that it would be downtown specific resturants. Places like white spot etc, are available everywhere so it's not really a downtown specific resturant.

The eatery has really awesome rice bowls too. Enough to pack for lunch the next day! i love the atmosphere in there, its a great place to take ppl who havent tried sushi before. Go astroboy!

^I'm a big fan of the Viva Las Vegas roll there, there's something that is just so wrong, yet so right about deep fried sushi.

The tuna tempura is also redick.

I used to live a block away from that place and never went in since the switch from Tomato.

Joey's - my favourite casual dining simply because they have so many vegetarian options.

I love the food at the Eatery but the service is fucking horrible. After my experience there last week I'm VERY hesitant to go back. It was my boyfriend's last night in town so we wanted time to eat and watch a movie before bedtime. We got to the Eatery around 6:10 - we were told a 10 minute wait. Well, we waited until 7:30 for a table, then another 20 minutes for a server to show up (after asking TWICE for our server). We ordered and it took another hour for our food. By the time we ate and actually found out server (again) to get the cheque, it was after 10:00. FOUR HOURS FOR DINNER? What a fucking joke. I was so pissed. And I still am, now that I think about it!

La Bodega for Spanish Tapas and the best Sangria in town

Guu in Gastown as a great date restaurant, but not like I've been on a date there :( I just imagine it would be good!

True Confections on Denman for delicious cake and pie

Ponchos on Denman for best mexican

Caper's Deli for the best salad bar and deli items

Parkside for their amazing drinks. They make the best whiskey sour I've ever had. Their food is amazing too.

That sucks.

They are notorious for lack luster service.

But, I can't remember the last time I went there and actually placed an order myself. We tend to go in and the kitchen just starts bringing stuff out for us.

It also helps if you're with the guy who designed the menues.
