John is an honest kind of older humor but he pails in comparison to the Colbert's witty satire. He could talk circles around John and has a stronger sense of viral jokes.

yea pretty much. i appreciate both styles alot and i agree with a good majority of their stances on issues. so i am split.

yeah maybe that's why i like john better.
seems like the newer comedians just take cheap shots and make jokes that are the type that don't even need to be said since they were obvious to begin with.
maybe older style comedy is more brutal and therein it is more how i view things.

i dno stephen can get pretty brutal (have you read his book. oh fuck!) and his comedy is quite often not as obvious.

Usually the brutality unearths rational arguments and deep irony though. By doing so he can show how irrational the harshest of conservatism is. Also, unless you watch all the American news networks like FOX, MSNBC, CNN etc on a daily basis and pay attention to how the news is represented differently you won't catch some of the insanely funny satire he drops sparingly. He brings a lot of good critique against the current state of media in a easily accessible and funny discourse.

Sure that doesn't mean there aren't some rednecks out there cheering him on but that's just irony overload, i can't even think about it my head might explode.

No one has the right to say anything about Stephen Colbert unless they have seen his entire speech at the White House Correspondents dinner. He told George Bush everything that's wrong with America TO HIS FACE. All John Stewart did was host some awards show.
Don't get me wrong, I love them both equally, but nothing tops what Colbert did. I have the entire CNN feed if anyone wants it.
