I went in to assess my patient in the am. He was fine. (pre-op open heart surgery patient) Then he started throwing up. Which was fine. Pts throw up all the time. Then his eyes rolled backwards and he was unresponsive. Had to press the code blue button (located at the head of each bed) and do nursey stuff to him until code team (team of drs and icu nurses who's only job is to respond to code blues all over the hospital) arrived.

hey diva, can you answere for me why when you have a loved one in the hospital and you go up to the nurses station to ask for something they all end their conversations and look down as if they are super busy and generally ignore you so that you have a hard time getting some help?

Kat it wasn't so bad. This happens fairly regularly on a cardiac surgery unit. He hadn't had surgery yet, though. Can you imagine doing cpr on a pt. who's just had his chest cut open? *Crack*
