little back story, I skim the new posts several times a day. I really don't read the titles but more speed read and interpret whatever first comes to mind and if I'm not interested I ignore it for the remainder of the time I see it.

for the past days I thought this topic was called "Man defecates pager", and I thought to myself, man stephen your a weirdo. guess he sure showed me.

just wanted to share this moment with the group.

what interested me is all the related bus security articles in the province (trust me i only read that paper when theres nothing else), and how this event could be the instigating factor in bus security step ups, etc. etc.

the question here is who gains from this? apparantly there were already talks going on about stepping up land transportaion security BEFORE this even happened, all they really needed was a catalyst, and did anyone find it spooky how the mans actions were described as "robotic" or "automated"??

Ok lets just continue trusting the government instead and hand over our personal rights and freedoms in the name of security. On the upside maybe some crazy bastards will receive more funding for thier craziness.

pretty sure the government using this situation as a way to push for more mental health resources is the craziest fucking possibility ive heard out of all of the possibilities given in this thread thus far.

Honestly, Stephen Harper and Stockwell Day do not have the COMBINED brain power to come up with a plan that elaborate. I'm sure a lot of people would agree with me on that.

First, I have little faith or trust in the Canadian Gov't. I'm simply not idiotic enough to believe that the gov't planted a man on a greyhound bus with instructions to robotically kill and decapitate a man, for the purposes of introducing more intrusive security measures on GH busses.

Second, comprehension is key. I said that society should take issue with the state of mental health in this country when incidents like this occur and demand changes from their gov't.

People act like second-degree murder is getting off light. It's not, you can still get sentenced the same as first-degree. It's just that the minimum possible parole is 10 years rather than 15.

Murder is first degree only when it is both planned and deliberate. The planning and deliberation must come before the beginning of the homicide. For example, someone makes a conscious decision to kill someone else, sets a plan in place and carries it out.
All other murders are second degree. The homicide must still be intentional, or it is not murder, but it becomes second degree murder when the intention to cause the personÕs death did not occur before the act began. In other words, there was no planning or deliberation. For example, someone assaults another person without having had any plan ahead of time to kill this person, but once the assault is commenced, intends to kill him.
If the death is a culpable homicide but not murder, it is manslaughter. In other words, where there was no intent to cause death (or bodily harm that is likely to cause death), but the person causing the death was negligent as to whether death occurred, the appropriate charge is manslaughter.
