YES. YES. and YES.

You most definitely must tip. If you are in a spa setting you have to tip that person. RMT or not..a 10-20% tip is mandatory or just plain tacky. I work in a spa..and when people don't tip..ohh we shit talk them when they're gone!

A RMT isn't much different then other massage therapists..they just hold a number that allows you to be compensated for the massage. They are still spending an hour or more on you and deserve a tip. I would give a tip no matter where I was..

I go to the spa and a pretty regular basis, I get all kinds of services and I tip every time. So yes, you should.

If the massage was terrible..then yea..no tip required and I would complain as well.

But for everything else..you tip. Service providers are meant to be tipped..

Service providers = servers, stylists, massage therapists, esteticians, make up artists.. ect.

that's really professional.

tipping isn't mandatory, btw.

I always tip, but seriously if someone did a service to me that wasn't deserving, I know I don't have to tip. :)

I always tip - even when the service isn't up to my standard. I just tip less. But, we've gone over this before haven't we?

my RMT is at a spa, so I tip.

after my car accident I went to a RMT and physio, I didn't tip them. ICBC paid them. They were both in a clinic setting.

I have undertipped or not tipped at all because of bad service, the food was also mediocre.

The servers job is to provide fast and friendly service and they are the front man/woman for the kitchen staff. They are getting paid their wage whether or not they do a good job. Tipping is for those servers who do excellent jobs at making their customers happy.

If no tip was given to the server, then the server shouldn't have to tip out to the kitchen staff. How can you tip out of your hourly pay? you don't. The tips are added up weekly/biweekly and tipped out to various parts of the restaurant.

I would like to work at the resturaunt that tips out on a weekly/biweekly basis because the waitresses/waiters at my resturaunt lose at least 40-50 dollars a night tipping out their supporting staff

edit: and that is weather or not they get tipped throughout the night.

Basically if someone doesnt tip someone else, and they are required to tip out supporting staff, that tip out then comes out of their pocket. I have had servers at my work OWE money to the tip out pool.

Granted sometimes managers will QSA certain parties (groups of 8 or more) if they do not tip out at least 15% that way the server isnt at a loss due to tacky practices.

I find it tacky when people dont tip. Because youre not only stealing away from the server, but the kitchen staff, the hostess, the bartenders.

What makes me more mad is people who dont tip due to reasons that are out of the servers hands. (long wait times regarding food, poor food presentation or taste ect.)

After working in a resturaunt I will never not tip anywhere again.

Tipping is a nessesary part of life. Being a decent tipper is just a better way to live.

However, I have to say this. I'm getting sick and tired of the tip option on Debit machines. I've had it come up at a convenience store, and a cold beer and wine store.

I'll throw in some change if I have it, but to be told at a retail outlet "give me money" is a little much.

I work in a Massage/Chiropractic/Naturopathic clinic and they do not get tipped here. I think that would be weird if you tipped them. They get $84 per hour. They are RMT's. I think tipping at a spa would be ok though, but I wouldn't know how to go about it. Avanna is right, just call and ask. It's not like they can see you. lol

There's a big difference between someone working at a spa and someone working at a clinic. That would be the deciding point on tipping, imho.

agreed to a certain extent. However I have had terrible, rude and damn right ridiculous servers and at that point I will tip them 10%....good servers I will tip up to 25% but I don't think because you work at a restaraunt you should "expect" a certain amount...I've worked in coffee shops also and busted my ass working way harder than most restaurants actually and gotten nothing but change for tips and for that reason I hate how people in the industry feel like they are superior and deserving..Yes they should be tipped but work hard for it and if you don't why should I give you well earned money that I would rather give to the nice clerk at the retail store making 8.50 an hour
