Has anyone read Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke because I have tried getting into it a couple times and it's just not happening...should I give it another go? I have like 3 days until my chapters.ca order comes in and that was my standby

i found this story collection to be really uneven. i think a lot of them only made it into publication because it's stephen king. you can tell that some of these stories are done from really early times in his writing as they aren't developed enough.
that being said there are some really good ones in there too. the raft, and the one about the guy on the island are the ones that i remember right now. oh, the mist was really good too. lots of connection to the dark tower series. it seems anyway. |

i liked both of those ones. haha. and i didn't really like the shortcut one. i didn't find there to be a point really. it was like an interesting little story that would happen inside one of his novels, but then other things would happen and it would all have some kind of reason.

it made me wonder where the fuck they went and how they got there so fast.
as for you liking those ones well...you also liked book four to the gunslinger books. you probably the liked the ending to book seven, too. didn't you? DIDN'T YOU??? |

haha, book four wasn't my favourite one...but i thought it was interesting. so far my favourite gunslinger has been book two and then book three. book five was interesting and book six was really cool.
i haven't read book seven yet. i just finished the last book i needed to read for my english class this morning, so i'm free for reading whatever i want until january 8th now. i'll read book seven over the holidays. |

wtf? all over the world millions of people had been waiting for decades (decades, jake! DECADES!) for the conclusion of the dark tower saga and you STILL haven't read it yet? it's been out for almost a year now and you're still going to put it on hold?
btw book five sucked and book six was OK. book two and three were the only really good ones in the series. edit-book seven was alright, too, i guess. |

i agree with you on book 2 and 3...but i liked the other ones too. book 5 seemed to be a bit like a side adventure, which was a little annoying, but book 6 was right on track again.
and i haven't read book 7 because i didn't want the series to end. |
