the Vancouver Island Buy, Sell & Trade is a really good place to go if you are looking for cheap cars, some of them are actually really good deals but the sifting throught the crappy ones takes a while. Nissan makes and has made some pretty reliable cars that are easily made to have a turbo put in them which makes them haul=)

rather than buying a bottom end $25,000 car, buy a high end $20,000 and add on $5000 worth of accessories. My suggestion would be the new Ford Focus ZX5. The 2005 is just BEAUTIFUL. I didn't like the Focus when it first came out. But it's fully grown on me. And if you have the intention of mod'ing your car, Focus's can be a lot of fun (i think).

I have a lot of new found respect for the Ford Focus. Look into it. Don't believe the old hype. See it for yourself. A focus with a front-lip, tinted windows, rims, xenon lights, new exhaust system, and in black... would be a head turner (even if it doesn't get the respect of a done up 300zx or integra type R)

Engine Mod-wise, the parts are kinda slim pickings for the ZETEC engine. If he got an older model Escort or something with the 2.3L SOHC with a Turbo you can squeeze some seriously retarded HP numbers out of them.
