Do you think raves should strictly enforce a 16+ age limit?
There are lots of good points on both sides but looking at the big picture, what do you think about this subject?
I will pay any price for whatever promoter decides to enforce this. Boodang has been doing this for a number of years now and it's all positive. I'm curious to see what people think about this so here's a poll =) Intro stages to marketing lol. |

I deffinatly agree with a 16+ enforcement if we can prove we can stick to this maybe Van City will lighten up a little and allow some other things to happen. I mean really at 13 14 and 15 do you really need to be at a rave doing drugs and being exposed to what you are being exposed to?

I'll stand at the door and enforce it myself. If you don't have your ID then go get it. On the flyer it would say 16+ strictly enforced and no refunds would be givin to anyone who wants to test it. Maybe present to the city some of the changes we are doing as well and hope they can lighten up as well. Sticky this? |

my interest in being a "raver" peaked from 14-17 ... so naturally i'd be choked if there was a 16+ rule in place. Some of my most memorable parties was when i was 15.
but the reality is most 14-15 year olds (not all) are total fucking retards.. plus im 20 and dont wanna party around their annoying existances , or have to hear about them on the local news. fuck em! |

I have mixed opinions regarding this topic. For the most part an age limit isn't so bad but at the same time at the very least these young kids are in a secure venue doing these drugs. If not a bunch of these dumbasses could be doing them like at peopels houses or just around somewhere else where its not in a secure venue and it could lead to alot of people getting messed or perhaps dieing. But yea i dont know nor do i care haha

hehhehjk I totally agree with the age limit. Even a 17+ would be great, by then the people are either going into or gradding from the 12th grade and they "should" have a little bit more of a sense of responsibility. |

Anjew, just out of curiosity, when did you start going to parties?
I started around 14/15 or so. Raves take the market share of those in the age group that have outgrown school dances but are too young for clubs, right? My opinion is if they like the music, their parents support them in attending this type of event, and they conduct themselves in a manner that doesn't hurt others, then they should be allowed to do as they wish. I understand alot of people here have been around on fnk for a while and no longer feel comfortable seeing young kids messed up, but, seriously, were all of you 'old school' fnk'ers really angels at that age? I'm betting a fair share of you started going to raves at the same age as me. Maybe you guys are more upset about the way some of these younger kids conduct themselves at parties (or their choice in fashion); in this respect, I don't disagree with you. I too sometimes shake my head at some of the teenagers who go to raves completely messed out of their skulls. However, by the same token, I shake my head at alot of OLDER people messed out of their skulls or drunk off there asses at raves. The point is you can't judge an entire age group based on the actions/choices of a few. I like to think that I used to behave responsibly when I was partying at that age (I think I've gotten worse since I discovered the benefits of alcohol). Maybe this is wishful thinking, but I like to believe that older kids back then were more tolerant of my presence as a then young partykid. The way I see it, back then, if I hadn't found raving then I would've been drinking with friends in parks stumbling around drunkenly getting into fights like we see so much now. The point is raves are a more controlled environment with security, first aid, and a police presence. I'd rather see kids at raves than getting into sensless fights in parks any day. I've talked several times with the VPD at shows and while the majority of them hate the music one thing they've all said to me is that when there are big raves the amount of 'mischievous activities' and 'offenses involving minors' goes down quite a bit. Whether or not that can be attributed to raves is up to interpretation; this is just my two cents on the situation. Furthermore, no one is forcing people to look at messed up kids. You don't like it? Then go to the clubs. Simple as that. The point of a rave is that its all ages. All are welcome. Change that and you're changing the whole concept of what a rave is in Vancouver. |

i totally think there should be a 19+ age limit. i mean some of these kids don't even know what the hell they are getting themselves into. if i had started raving in highschool with my friends when i was like 16......i would be a skitso meth head like most of them are today....just because i was young and ignorant. at least now i know i am being an idiot doin the shit i do. and i know how to ba a little safer about it, at least as safe as you can be. but i also know it is a phase....i aint gonna party for the rest of my life.

The only reason for doing so is drugs.
so.... YES, I agree. Unless it is a clean event. In a public place during day light is best suited for young kids to attend a rave. Really we dont nead to corrupt these little innocent minds at such a young age. Hell even the army has an age limit. LOL |
