new karma system

howdy, the new system will reflect the last very much. few new points, archived comments, removed anonymous feature and all new ranking.

other ideas?

a positive or negative comment system based on posts.

I would be able to click your "karma" button in your post and give you negative karma for asking what it was.

this would then decrease your overall karma count. you can only give out so much a day, plus the more ranked your are the more its worth when you give it.

man it was fun!

Myles I dont think its fair to have more powerful karma points depending on your rank. We would never even out fairly :P

karma points is great if the comments are constructive. Points like your lame and stuff like that is just a waste. But anyways, bring it back. Ip display instead of alias is a good idea, but it wouldnt take long before someone started notice the IP.

im glad you mentioned that. actually the karma system is not based on ranking by favorites, more ranking on post quality. users who post comments that most would dislike, receive a backlash of "bad karma" for that post. this helps scale user quality, not user favorites. that was a good question. =)

im not reading this whole thread.. but im a big fan of the karma system. i like to give "props" to ppls comments, but pm'ing them takes too much effort and a post that consists of "well said" makes me look like a post whore. and also as well ive been seeing very DUMB posts and instead of smacking them across their head, i can just click and give them bad karma. hey its all fun and games!
