Personly, I saw it the first time and hated it. Then watched it again at a friends place, picked out some funny parts. Saw it a third time, laughed a little. Then saw it the fourth time, stoned, that was funny!
Dont know how to explain it. But I do find it funny. But it took a couple viewings. Its a really dry humor or something.

it's just the fact the kid is such a loser that makes the movie funny. you cannot be irritated/moody while watching it, otherwise the movie will suck and you'll be questioning his retarded behavior.

I wouldn't be so bold as to compare Napoleon Dynamite with the intelligent humour behind Life Aquatic. I agree with Discord, the movie made me shudder. The only two good things that came out of this movie were the dance (as said), and the character of Pedro Sanchez. Other than that, the movie is cinematic fodder.

its a different kind of humour. its not really "what" they say, its how they say it and why they say it.

similar humour to King of the Hill. I might be a little off with that comparrison, but its pretty close.

The Life Aquatic was a beautiful story about Steve Zissou's passion for his oceanic documentaries, detailing the struggles, loses and occasional triumphs he went through to produce those films.

I guess that's why I sympathized with them.

I loved N.D. It definetly polarizes people.. cubed, for instance.. I consider to have a great sense of humour, we laugh at almost exactly the same shit.. and yet I loved N.D. and he walked out on it.

I suppose that, when trying to extrapolate the true nature of Napolean Dynamite as a cinematic experience, and, in the more metaphorical sense, as a commentary on the world around us, the real question we all have to be asking ourselves is this:

Do the chickens have large talons?

i found this movie extremely true because my moms side of the family lives in a very SMALL town, and everytime we go to visit thats exactly what its like down in the US.

i guess i can just relate to it.
