the whole point of the apex dj contest is for a bedroom dj to get the chance to play out at a large party on a big system.

Ideally yes, it wouldnt be a popularity contest but thats what every contest turns into on fnk (hell the only reason I voted for nabs is cuz he's brown...i hate trance!)

as for sean and his hairband...asides from Lenny, none of them are dj's and at least have never publicly expressed any desire to be dj's or performers of any kind (at least not to my knowledge).

As far as I know the only reason they want to "perform" is drink and do some stupid shit on a stage. The performance will probably consist of the following.

- air guitar
- rocker wigs
- 80's skanks dancing around
- playing hair metal tunes off a cd

I really dont expect much more then that, so if they do win - thank god its only 40min and opening.

IMO the opening set is one of the most important of the night...you're the guy who sets the mood for the night, you're the guy who makes it easy for the next cat to go on and start rocking a crowd instead of having to build one up. I'm not sure how much of a crowd anyone in this contest will build but whoever it is, i hope its a good one.

As for arguing with Avana...i learned a long time ago to not bother...its like arguing with a board with a nail. You can preach and debate all you want...but at the end of the day its still a board with a nail.

I don't think any DJ in this contest has much to offer to begin with... only considering the fact that any bed room DJ who has alot of tallent and enough years experince would never try a contest like this if they wanted to playout. Not saying your all terrible DJ's, but I think for a slot like this it should be offered to more experinced under dog DJ's.

Sadly this is a popularity contest and I cant agree any more how unfair it probly is... however in the real DJ buisness it gets even more un fair. So get use to it or youll live your DJ life bitter and sad.

it's true! i don't know any of them, but the one thing i do know is that mullets and pilsner beats a fucking trance or house set any day of the week! :)

Honestly, Not to brag one fucking bit. If I had completed my mix on time....and had not focused on getting my mortgage together;....If this contest were actually based on skills, technicality and track selection... I would win by a landslide. Even when this thread began C Squared Castro, mentioned that I'd be a good contestant, anyone of my friends here on FnK or whoever has rinsed either Chemically Balanced or Liquid Toxxin Volumes knows what I am talking about.... I even asked Avana twice after the cut off date, and being the honest and strict rulemaker she is...she didn't let me, cuz that wasn't part of the contest....Oh well.

All the ppl that know me, knows I aint even about playing out, Having sick skills, buying records weekly and staying on top of the fresh beats is quite satistfying already for me. I'm too focused on making money and getting things going for myself....cuz I aint trying to be no rock star DJ.

most people know what a critic i am when it comes to dj's but i'll be nice since you're all green.

DJ BeeDub - by far the best mix of the bunch, keep workin on your beatmatching and maybe pick a new dj name.

DJ McNasty - liked this one next, very creative, got a good foundation there for some ideas...again practice more and make sure your shit is tight, especially if you're dropping acapellas.

DJ Nabs - you tied with edoe...keep workin on your mixing, tracks seemed so old...which is cool...but not, at the same time.

DJ Edoe - i dont really care for the genre you play so this isnt really an impartial opinion...wasnt really feelin any of the tracks. keep workin on your mixing.
