so where's the computer forum on FNK?

I am using Xlinks2 at the moment, and do not have access to Java. (thank the Gods esp. Foobar!)

Those smilies don't get transfered over, which is ok since I use the regular ones. :p

Dunno if the phBB script is smart enough to convert them to the pixelated version.

Yes, and not all the editor buttons above the text entry area work.

Looks like I need to change my options.

Anyway I am outies.

Oh, the jscript that shows the profile avatar of course does not display it.

Not a loss overall.

Oh, and I feel more secure overall.

ok, i turned the editor to basic, and now it feels better.

i wonder how the Lynx crowd feels.

xlinks2 is pretty down on evil jscripts.

reason for using xlinks2: the GUI browsers all lead to total preoccupation of CPU - it goes up to 100 percent consisting mostly of anything but nice and user with a dearth of idle time.

this results in linux slowing down overall.

also i think there is a jscript out there that takes control of your sandbox and turns your java system into a portscanner.

meanwhile your system just slows down and becomes sluggish.

anyone get this problem lately?

Um, I use firefox in linux and I haven't had a single problem with it whatsoever, except that flash crashes every once in a while and I need to restart my browser, but I get this exact same problem in IE at work. Thank god for the "kill app" gnome panel applet and firefox resuming from last known configuration.

just have the system monitor applet turned on and watch the processor miniscreen. if it is filled with blue i know a process or two must be eating cpu cycles. once it becomes sluggish i click on exit and ok when the "closing application" popup comes up.

this "bug" affects most of my gui browsers and according to ubuntu forums and debian bugs forum, may be due to kernel code not working right. few other people have this problem cos they dont have a hp e-vectra using i810e chipset.

looks like i810e didn't fix that 810 problem after all.

edit: IMHO i think it is related to the GUI since the GUI browser use up a lot of cpu cycles putting up the pictures.

also konqueror always spits out complaints to .xsession-errors which has to do with setPixelsize even tho the code uses setPointsize.

plus, konqueror doesnt find the cryptography to its liking.

other than that, i enjoy my time in CLI nmapping the net...

just saying...

I don't know how it's possible for you to enter into any thread without saying at least one creepy thing dude.

new kernel release just came out. Ever do a custom build? Be a good time to try and learn.

qft, that panel applet saves complete computer restarts at times.

I don't like killing the X process to get out of a session but sometimes your mouse just locks right up and you've got no visual control. Keyboard to the rescue.

i do not have enough drive space left to recompile the kernel.

i will probably get a proper usb cable to burn some pics to a dvd rom to give more space but a total kernel rebuild isn't feasible.

I realize that you're already strapped for cash, but getting a new HD is really inexpensive these days.

Kernel takes up a matter of megabytes. If you don't have enough space for that, it's really time to get a new hd. You can get half-terabyte drives for under 100 these days.
