I did! I had no idea that you could figure out how far it was between places. I just knew the Grid. I'm never lost anywhere except for North/West Vancouver and Abbotsford. But this! This allows me to see how fast I'll get somewhere.

Unless your making big coin or want to live in a 700 sq-ft apartment, I'll be seeing all of you out in Surrey at some point in time :)

By then though Surrey will be too expensive,especially after they clean up surrey central. I'll see you all out in Hope :)

out here in civilization, we use 100 blocks to find general location.

the equation doesn't work because the blocks aren't the same distance

in order to use a mathematical equation, you'd have to have some sort of constant. in impure's imagination, that constant would be the distance between the city blocks, which isn't constant but varies quite a bit

Pretty sure I've never seen that short phrase before in print. I think I heard it spoken once, but it was the mayor, and he was defending his town after it was named car theft capital of North America.

Surrey uses confusingly numbered streets and avenues (it wouldn't be so bad if one or the other had NAMES!) because if no-one got lost in Surrey, no-one would ever give up and decide to live there.

that's what i thought too. but it's still a good rule of thumb, assuming that surrey blocks are roughly the same size. do you know for sure that they aren't?
