Yeah, if you're gonna let the drug control you, time to get out. Try stopping for like a month. That's about the time it takes for all of it to clear out of your system. After that month, do a sanity-check and see how things are going. Anxiety gone? Nailed it. Still there? Start the smoking again. |

After learning alot about plant spirits this summer, weed makes a lot more sense.
It's a teacher plant, it's a sacred plant. Disrespect it, it disrespects you. Instead of meditating and listening. Most abuse it and just want to get "high". That's why it makes you a dumb shit. Respect the plants, they will do more for you than you can imagine. |

supposedly anxiety has to do with the GABA receptors.
this is why Benzodiazepines (bzd) work, and also why you get hooked on them fast. i would suggest pre-loading with 5 of Valerian (the 5x stuff that's labelled 500mg) a half hr before the next bong hit, and then taking 3 pills a day for about a week, and then 1 pill a night. Any nervousness I would attribute to MAO action on dopamine, which forms noradrenalin and adrenalin. Though THC-induced anxiety could be due to dopamine release. Since usually, serotonin is tweaked. Hence the earlier sleep-offs after a bake-off. However one of the CBDs is a dopamine agonist. Tho, some of those nice dreams may be because of anti-cholinergic influence of another CDB. These canniboids can affect a lot of neurotransmitter receptors other than just dopamine and serotonin. bzd, acetylcholine, dopamine, serotonin, gaba: these are just a handful being tweaked by weed. the last time i puffed on weed, i took 3 puffs from chris bennett's doobie and wandered around vancouver on Remembrance Day. that was about 3 hours I will never get back! it gets really dull and boring walking around in a stoner haze. the worst part was when i was hallucinating my arms were twitching due to a seizure. over the next hour, i must have gotten anxious, but i didn't panic. i just wanted the buzz to go away. i haven't touched weed since. man, i wish for the days before that concussion in 2004, when two puffs just made me dizzy and hungry! anyway, preload with valerian. and keep the brain on an even keel with rhodiola when you aint toking. |

step 1: Quit smoking for at least a month. If you really are smoking as much as you say, then you are permabaked.
step 2: now that you have detoxed, are you still uncomfortable (especially around girls)?. If you are, it's not the weed, you are just a shy guy, you should start a whole new post for this problem.) step 3: If it was just the weed, ease yourself back in, smoke when you want, as much as you want, around the people you are comfortable with. How's the anxiety? I'm in no way being serious in my last post... but it's just funny what I came up with (treating anxiety with cannabis... pft give me a break). If you still read this thread - then the answer to your problem is to simply to stay off the bud. Whatever anxiety you will have remaining won't be cause of pot... but will be due to lack of social confidence (which can be fixed through social interactions). |

IS it the weed???
I know this is old...but maybe you are still looking for advise.
I have been an everyday weed smoker for the past 9 years. I was recently diagnosed with Social and Panic Anxiety. I came across you topic while researching weed & anxiety. My brother (who is also a pot smoker and not a doctor) told me that I have anxiety issues because I smoke pot. I don't believe him because I find smoking weed helps me deal with my anxiety. If I could be constantly high I don't think I would have any anxiety. Maybe you have underlying psychological issues that cause the anxiety. Maybe when your high you are more aware of those issues and it gets your mind going. I am going to a Psychologist to figure out where my anxiety comes from. I had anxiety before I started smoking weed...I just didn't know it...then one night when I was high...it came to me. I don't want to take pills for my anxiety...so I self medicate with weed...I just wish I could smoke it all day. Marijuana does affect everyone differently. So maybe it causes anxiety for you. I think that because I smoke it everyday...I don't get as sketched out as those who do it occasionally or quit then start back up. I can smoke all kinds and I'm just cool...I don't freak out...I might act silly...but I'm a silly girl when not high. When I don't have weed I have anxiety. So to answer your question...I don't think smoking weed causes social anxiety...but I ain't a doctor.
