Vancouver = clowns ??
Ok, so Ill try to make this story as short as possible.... but I just don't get why there are so many clowns in vancouver as apposed to most cities i've lived in.
at a sushi restaurant, a homeless guy paid for a meal and she put it in a box to go. WHO WOULDN'T? hes a sketchy badass looking type homeless guy that you just wouldn't really want in your business... no offense. so the guy freaks out, and starts saying OH you put it to go JUST because im homeless didnt you.... not only that, hes threatening an asian girl whos like barely 5 feet tall.... and obviously could never defend herself in a fight. so after a couple minutes of him doing this, i walk up to him and was like.. what the fuck is wrong with you man, don't fucking talk to a girl half your size like that EVER AGAIN. and he beefs with me, so i level the guy .. send him about 5 feet back , and say get the fuck out of the restaurant etc and hes like OH GIVE ME A PHONE LADY SO I CAN CALL THE COPS ON HIM HE JUST ASSAULTED ME.. the little asian girl (cute as can be ) was just like.... UHHHHHH NO ! then the manager came out with a scaulding hot glass of coffee and said he'd throw it at his face if he laid a finger on her again etc sorry im just rambling on here ....... and im not even trying to say , wow im so tough (i never pick fights just for the sake of it) i just think it's incredibly wrong to threaten a girls life like that, if you're twice her size. DUH! ESPECIALLY A CUTE LITTLE GIRL WHO MADE AN HONEST MISTAKE! anyway, it was kind of nice because the lady thanked me very kindly. |

clearly Vancouver is the only city in the world with homeless people!
I love not-so-thinly veiled attempts to let fnk know you're a true gentleman! As if those kinds of things are not things people ought to be doing anyways and not grandstanding about it :P |

I've noticed alot of aggressive panhandlers recently. Personally saw an incident about a month ago in gas town involving a tourist, was kinda disturbing, the panhandler just lost it and was in a total rage and pushed this tourist person right to the ground. I don't care whether if one has a drug problem or a mental problem but there is 1 thing that sticks to everyone and that is knowing what is right and what is wrong. Essentially its one of the very first things that is taught as a child.

I'm not so optimistic because I'd say had this girl been unattractive (ie - not 'cute' and 'asian' and 'little' etc.) I'm certain it would not merit making a post, and people (read : horny young dudes) may not be so quick to help out :P

A 24-year-old male assaulted me at Barnette beach at a bonfire and not one person there did anything about it. There was around 30 people there. I was walking up a path at the wrong time. Had a hairline fracture in my jaw and spent the night in the hospital. Whenever I see someone being mistreated I dont stand by and let it happen. |

This one time I was at Kitto's downtown and this older gentleman was freaking out at the server. He was full fledge YELLING at her and saying he refuses to pay his bill, throwing shit around the restaurant. She was too nice to say anything so my girlfriend and I started yelling at the guy.
I am going to have to say how shocked I am by the bystander effect. I was attacked on the bus by a construction worker, broad daylight, no one helped me. The only person that tried to help me was an elderly lady. He got off the bus after I hit him one across the face. |

I think I told this story. The last time I was at metrotown, I walked by a large crowd. I stopped to take a look. Everyone (including several large men) were calmly watching as an father was screaming at his 7 year old daughter. Nobody did anything. I pushed through the crowd, and grabbed the father to the side and held him for 5 mins till an off duty cop showed up.
In general people will go out of their way to avoid confrontation. Some people just aren't used to conflict. I work at a club, so I'm used to having to deal with it... |
