Just wondering...I remember a big fuss about some place in Richmond being bought and "renovated" with the intent of using it as a big, regular rave venue...I think its inaugural party was going to be for NYE 2000...no recollection as to what ever happened with that or if it was Twisted or another company that was involved...
Anyone have a better memory than me on this one? |

the plaza is most definitely not the only major venue... but it certainly was one hell of a nice, unique, and accessible one. |

As for what synx had to say. It was very well put. I know alot of poeple hate plaza saying it sucks blah blah blah but we were very ver fortunate to have this venue available to us ever since Sweet Gets Wicked made it possible for us back in October of 99. Sigh how sad. Hope some new venues pop out and as far as PNE it costs a lil too much and if that turns into the alternative venue for massives i can see no more then a hand full of parties at most there a year without peopel losing money. And by a hand full fo parties i think im alreayd pushing it. |

Again nothing is confirmed in regards to the Plaza changing operators handss but it does look like it will by summer this year. Estimated time for the renovation to begin will be July at the latest. As has been said several times throughout this post nobody can hold it against the Plaza for making a sound buisness decision. If you had a chance to do less work and get paid upto and including a 130% increase in revenues you'd be stupid not to do it. I would take the money and run if I was placed in a similar position. All I can say is it'll be one hell of a party to close it out. Tickets will not be cheap for this event but will be well worth every penny. In the future it would be a great to be able to tell peps that you were at the last major party the Plaza had. I say congratulations to the Plaza if this goes through for working out a wicked deal and I bid a sad farewell to a great venue but life goes on and new venue oppotunities will arise. THIS DECISION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RAVE SCENE. The city and police have actually been very supportive over the past few years and have found that the rave's aren't everything that the media and religious groups have made them out to be. The hard part is getting other venues to understand that these "BAD" raves aren't actually bad and to get them to open their doors. The hard part is getting permission to run all night long. This is all for another thread but anyways fond farewell to the Plaza if it does go and lets look forward to some new and innovative venues in the future.

ahaha did you miss what i was responding too? i felt i handled it fairly well?
you kids and your pre conceived notions that i am oh so terrible are hilarious. You don't even take the time to attempt to have any understanding of why i am commenting in the fashion that you don’t approve of. If you read what I was responding too instead of just reacting , you might make more sense. My only salvation, ahaha, is that people who have actually spent any amount of time talking to me in real life don't seem to express these things you kids like too. now do you have any opinion, suggestion or sorrow you would lik to express about the TOPIC at hand? |

hmm too bad...
The plaza is a good venue for massives.. especially when you compare it to the Pacific Coliseum. I can just see it, In 10 years from now people are going to be complaining about the scene and reminiscing about "those days when there were plaza parties" |

first off what is with this "kids" stuff...? buddy im less than two years younger then you and Kandy Kid is your age... we're hardly kids... so stop it with all this self-inflated kids shit... secondly, in reference to the "did you miss what i was responding too? i felt i handled it fairly well?" no you didnt handle it well... you obviously missed my point... i wasnt saying that the fact that my first rave was at the plaza had any effect on whither or not they would make it into a casino, i was meerly stating that i, as with many other people, have a special attatchment to the plaza as a venue and that it would be sorely missed... and honestly i thnk the last thing Downtown vancouver needs is another casino... in response to your "now do you have any opinion, suggestion or sorrow you would lik to express about the TOPIC at hand? " i cant believe you honestly just said that... did your post regarding my first post have any relevence to the topic at hand? no... it was just a pointless flame... so next time you want to preach to Kandy Kid or anyone else about relevence... make sure what youve said it relevent... ok... "kid"? Last edited by Dj Whatever; Jan 14, 04 at 12:16 PM. |

This is bad news. So the last night i'm going to be in Plaza Nation is for KISS? Plaza of Nation was where i had my first rave. Eventhough i didn't had a good time that night, the first thing that comes to my mind is "Plaza of Nation"whenever i hear or see the word "rave". I wish no one will go to that casino and then it goes bankrupt and then change it back to rave paradise we all want.
The title of the track i'm listening to right now best describe how i'm feeling after hearing this. |
