actually there have been a number of female heads of state throuhg out the ages, queen elizabeth and victoria in england, are just two examples but their have been many heads of states long before finland's example. http://womenshistory.about.com/od/rulers/ in fact, finland only had a female head of state since 2000, canada even had a female head of state 7 years before. we can look at india which is considered one of the most corrupt democratic countries in the world and Indira Ghandi was their head of state for a cumulative total of 15 years starting in the 1960s. Yet they remain extremely corrupt, this is just clearly illustrates that corruption has little to do with the gender of the person running the country nor their political ideology. Rather levles of precieved corruption has more to do with the quality, strength, transperancy, precieved legitimacy and fairness of their legal systems and the other social/political institutions which compose their government. http://ww1.transparency.org/cpi/2004/cpi2004.en.html it is no coincidence that the countries with the least corruption are all rich CAPITALIST democracies. for all its flaws capitalism has the unique benefit of providing as well as creating the necessity for strengthened legal and civil rights, accountabilty and transperancy in government. corruption impedes capitalism, and as capitalism progresses it reinforces the need for flexibilty and transperancy on the aprt of the government. if you wouldn't mind reading the works of sociologists/phiolosphers like joseph steiglitz, george soros, T.H marshall an shit, they talk at length about this shit without being wierdo conservatives in any way. Moslty I still see the majority of single parents taking care of children are women. Ive seen so many women (one being my mom) who began post secondary education, got married, and had kids before they finished. Either it's the women who stays home and takes care of the kids or if devoriced its the women who raises the kids during most of the week. How are women supose to get into politics when so many of them are stuck in this position??? PS: if women were in power... there would be ALOT more DRAMA!!! Although the women I work with in the schools are extreamly nice and caring... my dad tells me about the women at his office all the time and how cruel they are to each other. |

werd, dont hate the player hate the game, hehe j/k....it dosnt matter what the gender, race or sexual oreintation of a person is its pretty much a given that if they've achieved success in politics, business or any given field that they have certain personality traits and attitudes that all people who find success in that field also posses. Alot of people may begrude wealthy, successfull or powerfull (self made)people because of the wealth and power they have but the reality is that of they were in a similar position they probably wouldnt like the tasks associated with achieving on that level, much less be as competant. I can tell you myself i would never want to be a premier for any amount of money but especially for the 150k a year they make. the people who are successful in politics all have the same basic attitudes, desires, personalities and habits i doubt there would be a significant change in the way things are ran even if the political systemw as dominated by women. |
