on a more relevant note:

i don't really buy into all this stereotypical bullshit that people have been spouting in this thread about whether women are more rational or more vindicitive or more manipulative etc... both men and women can have these qualities, they don't belong to one sex.

if women ruled the world, i don't believe that would be fair. just like i don't believe if men ruled the world entirely it would be fair. since women make up just over half (i think) of our population it just makes sense to have the same percentage of women in political leadership roles. one sex shouldn't rule above all the rest. this isn't really the way that it pans out in most parts of the world, but i think it should.

ps. ironic for the subject of the thread that fable decided to insult that hypnotic chick by calling her a 'princess' ect... way to rise above the gender stereotypes, fable! once again we all here at fnk bow down to your superior ability to make yourself look like an asshole with hardly any outside help at all!

"What's the alternative to pumping out a unit every nine months? Pointless careerism? Putting on a man-tailored suit with shoulderpads and emulating all the worst behaviours of men... that's the noblest thing these women can think of rather than trying to find some way of making this planet heal? You don't hear too much of that from these rich white feminists.... that's one thing I've noticed... most of these 'feminists' are rich white women, they don't give a shit about black women's rights, they don't give a shit about latina's rights, all they care about is their own 'reproductive freedom' and their pocketbooks."

WOMEN WOULD NOT BE MUCH BETTER IF THEY WERE "IN CHARGE" OF THE WORLD.

hmmmm, thats definetely a valid comment. But, whos to say that women would take over the old steretypical roles?

I agree with the comments revolving around the stereotypical "rich white feminist"

The other thing to think about as well, is that i wasnt being literal. Rather im talking about getting more young women involved, or just spreadng the belief that women are more than capable of taking on leadership roles. No one sex should rule,, but there is a whole lotta precedent to bring into context at the very least.

You would. The first part of the rant is:

"I agree with most of the feminist philosophy I have read. I agree, for instance, that men are vein, brutal, greedy assholes that have just about ruined this planet because they're afraid someone might have a bigger dick than them out there. Men are basically insecure about the size of their dicks and so they go to war over it. You don't have to be a political scientist or a history major to understand the bigger dick foreign policy at work. It goes something like this: 'What? They have bigger dicks than us? bomb them!' And, of course, the bombs and the rockets and the bullets are all shaped like dicks!"

I think the more that we judge ability to govern based on sex the more we condemn ourselves to have bad leaders.

When Hilary Clinton gets elected president (and if anybody female is in the states in the next 15 years, it'll be her), i don't foresee it being much different than when her hubby was. Heck, maybe even she'll get her own intern scandal!

nice job taking quotes completely out of context. You should work for the Province.

calling a women a princess because i feel she was being caddy, or pretensious has nothing to do with gender roles it would technically have to do with class roles.

If you stopped judging what other people say 24/7 and actaully spoke up and shared an opinion, you might actaully learn how to make point. Until then, understand that politics and policy discussion isnt always "correct" or "nice" And understand that relevant discussons turn into flamefest right fucking quick, and so my "demenour" will change as well. I fail to understand how you can single me out? You admitted to not even reading my posts, but perhaps if you did, youd realize that your judgements are usually skewed

If you want to continue this go ahead, but perhaps we can switch to the actual discussion? Stop taking things so literally, yes women and men both are prone to all matters of behaviour, but that has nothing to do with the fact that the reality still sees the majority of leadership roles going to men. We can say women will do the same job all we want, but they havent, and thats the issue.

Fighting about the issues is one thing, but im really tired of the lame back and forth. I know you gots smarts, so pair it up with the thicker skin, many accuse me of not having, and we can get some good convo in gear - ya dig?

A intelligent girl attempted to convince me again, that fighting hate with hate really only desroys everyone involved, so yet again, ill take another shot at being civil...up to a point

I would eh? Smugness is a good color on you.

I also can relate to the first part of the rant as well. If you take a tad more metaphorically, it answers a few questions atleast.

1)Judging the ability of women to lead on two three 100 corrupt women still doesnt fly, comparitive to how many important leadership roles there really are(perhaps thats the problem?)

2) I could agree on your bit about judging our ability on sex, BUT that still doenst account for the massive desparity in how many men lead, and how many women do, and it sure as shit doesnt disclaim the need for more female leadership.

aha! WELL SAID! But whats this business about taking time? The only time there is before visible ethnic representatinal men and women take to the leadership roles is the time it takes individuals to rise above the structural racism everywhere. But nonetheless time is still time, but ill be fucking damned if someone is going to convince me that "time" is completely innocent, non assuming, logistical time.

Not at all. I'm not judging based on two or three or 100 corrupt women, but the women that are currently at the top. Fuck, in Canada we get to say that we had a female prime minister... but does anybody else remember Kim Campbell? She was horrible! And she was totally a party tool to take all the political heat of the previous administration and then they could go off and form the reform party.

Point I'm making is that in order for the women to become world leaders, they have to be just as politically conniving, brainwashed, and corrupt as all the other political figureheads, or else they would not be able to be political figureheads. This is the nature of politics, not of men ruling.

no, that's accounted for by patriarchy and the status quo of the last few thousand years in which women have been typically cast as the submissive in society. Thankfully, this has deteriorated over the last few hundred to the point where now equality is the official standpoint of most western governments, despite that it may still not be in practice.

But this is entirely an equality issue as opposed to a "how we can fix the world" issue. I don't think that more females at the top is really going to be an improvement except for that it says that we don't care about gender in ability to lead.

And yes, I do enjoy being smug. Fucker. =P

Were living in a very intresting part of time. Our grand parents were apart of the generation of women being granted the right to vote and changing the actual law to make them equal. Our parents generation built on that with women working as well and being some of the first ever to take on leadersihp roles. Were still living with our parents generation wich still consists of ppl who are still very old fashion and not as open as we are to women being leaders. We grew up seeing a very small percentage of women in power... we know its possible, but rare. Im sure many women in our generation want to improve on that. Next I hope our children will grow up to see many more women in power and by time the idea of women in power wont be such as a big deal as we make it today.

Step by step... evelution doesnt happen over night.

last time i checked, equality (in practise that is) would be a positive step in the "how we can fix the world issues"

Sayiing that we dont care about gender in the ability to lead is a very BIG fucking step.

and your point is what? Someone doing a bad job hasnt been that effective at keeping men out of power, so why would it be any more relevant in the case of women?

Ok, but in saying so, i also believe that struggle for womens right to lead is intertwined with out struggle for the right to representation that isnt "conniving, brainwashed, and corrupt...."

Point I'm making is we've already SAID that. There exists no laws to prevent women from taking office in Canada or the states.

The fact that we're still overcoming the social stigma that is attached to the parties against letting a woman run for office let alone win it is a shame, but I don't like it when people always refer to women as nurturing, caring, other "mother"like qualities under the assumption that these types of traits would therefore translate into political agendas somehow. Women politicians are just as evil as the male ones.

And the more I think about it, the more I find myself vehemently opposed to most female politicians I've witnessed. Christy Clark, Sheila Copps, Deborah Gray, Libby Davies, Jan Pullinger, Preston Manning (ba-zing)... none of them that I'd really see myself backing. Maybe that hot conservative chick (this is what we call an "oxymoron") who defected to the Liberals. But like, christ, it takes a defection to get my vote? Howzabout we get some better women running for office and maybe we can get a few elected, hey?
