lock the thread please. it is what it is to you personally. i don't need an internet definition to clarify what is completely different to different people. so boring hearing the same response over and over. |

but ya, there are jerks in all scenes i'm sure. but there are nice people too, you can't say a certain type of music following is all the same. you know what they say bout one bad apple.... born n raised in a smalltown myself, i can see where yer comin from Tiedye. up north i walk down the street and you pretty much say "hi how are ya" to everyone you pass, for whatever reasons. Its strange adjusting to the city where people are far more impersonal and just mind their own shit for the most part. heh, it took just about 2 weeks of moving down here to stop acknowledging like almost everyone i passed ha ha ha., |

my two cents
Around the second page of this thread, I saw actual definitions that answered the question.
Junglism isn't about the cloths, it is, and always should be about the music. People who choose to wear camo, take up djing, spraypainting, whatever...if they do it in order to identify more closely with the culture, and no just to "look like a junglist" then why hate on them. Its all about motivation, and as a junglist, the only motivation you need is the music. One of the things that I have noticed a bit of, and have found quite disgusting, is what I call the "Top 40 Junglist". People coming out to a jungle show, wearing some camo pants they just bought, and hoping they will hear some Pendulum because that is all they know. Though I got nothing but love for acts like Pendulum who are taking DnB to new levels and introducing new crowds to the music that influences so many of us, just liking an artist, act, or track, wearing camo, and going to a DnB show DOESN'T make you a junglist. It is often these types of people that give the word "junglist" a bad reputation. That being said, it is the people that take this initial interest, and use it to explore the music and culture further to see what, if anything else, there is that they like that I have the most respect for. It is the actually journey of discovery that makes a junglist, because in order to truly identify with a culture, you must first experience the many different sides and perspectives within that culture to get a real and thorough understanding of what it means. Just for the record, I DO consider myself a junglist, but: -I own only ONE (1) article of camoflage clothing (a t-shirt) -I DO NOT do JIB -I am actually easy to talk to if you make an attempt, but I don't pretend to be your best friend and care about everything you're trying to say if its too loud (a common problem when trying to make small talk in a club) -I have been spinning and buying jungle records for over 3 years, though it has been only recently that I even began considering myself a junglist. Remember what music really is. It is a form of stimulus. People react differently to different forms of stimlus, and it is the breakbeat that stimulates a junglist. RESPECT!! |
